Today's College Football Thread
Now today there are three games between ranked teams today:

#12 Nebraska at #10 Penn State
#20 Auburn at #15 Georgia
#7 Oregon at #4 Stanford

My Sooners have the week off. Illinois plays host to Michigan.

So who does your team play? What games are you looking forward to.

It's been a weird, sad, tragic week in college football.

Hi,
Knew there were a few other Huskers out there in the hinterland. It was not pretty, but they pulled it off. I think Martinez has shown some real improvement the last two games. His receivers dropped some that should have been caught today. Bo's presser after the game was pretty powerful. Now comes Michigan, yipes.

Peace

We'll be pulling for you every time you play the Jawja Bulldogs. Incredible that South Carolina beat all five teams in the East yet Georgia is going to represent the East in the SEC championship game. I hope LSU hangs about 80 points on them.

29. After that performance, the BCS should rank Oregon no lower than 14th, I think
Beating the number 4 team like a rented mule on its own field, you'd think Oregon would get a little more play. No. They play in the Pacific time zone, so fuck 'em. The Ducks will be "lucky" to stay in the top 10.

Like in Portland or Corvallis. Heh.

No, I think the BCS is set up for an LSU-Alabama rematch. Oklahoma State will be an acceptable spoiler for the BCS, but Oregon's goose is cooked, championship-wise.

39. Yup - an SEC team is the only team that may lose to a top ranked SEC team...
Edited on Sun Nov-13-11 04:04 PM by WildEyedLiberal
... and still be a viable contender for the championship.

Alabama lost to LSU? No problem! They're still top 5! Oregon loses to LSU? Oh, no, they'll plummet in the rankings and never see the top 5 again. Penn State (leaving the recent mess aside)'s only loss was to #2 Alabama (before yesterday)? They never did again crack the top 10. The BCS is so blatantly and ridiculously biased in favor of the SEC it's a joke. OSU will have to be perfect, and even then, I don't think they're a lock for the title game because they play in the wrong conference.

45. It will be Oklahoma or Ok st
If its a one loss team, its not going to be one LSU has already beat, even though a case can be made for both. If Ok wins out, its last victory over Ok St, who will be ranked 2, will be enough to leapfrog it over Alabama. Oregon will have to enjoy the Rose Bowl, which is hardly a bad thing. Sadly, Alabama gets the truly short end of all this, they will end up getting Houston in the Sugar bowl, which will just be a terrible game. It will be an Acc/Big East Orange Bowl, another stinker. But the Rose Bowl and Fiesta will be great. I think the Fiesta will be Stanford v. the loser of the Ok v. Ok State game and the Rose Bowl will be Oregon v. the big Ten winner, which I hoped would be Penn St, but will probably be Michigan St. Oregon v. Mich state will be a fun game to watch.

49. It's the BCS way!
Not limited to the Ducks, of course, but to any team not in the SEC. The way things are going, it's just possible the national championship game would be an LSU/Alabama rematch. I believe the simultaneous orgasm at the NCAA would register on the Richter Scale.

WVU blocked a Cincy 14 yard field goal attempt with three seconds remaining. That field goal would have tied the game, sending it into OT.

Cincinnati QB got hurt. Hated to see that, hope he heals up OK this week.
