Some odd bits that are endearingly cute: DU and Romans
* Cuteness #1: Where DU Loungers observe, comment, gently mock other forums, especially GD, as if it's a totally separate organism or a totally foreign anthropological specimen.

* Cuteness #2: About the Romans. Somewhere in a History/Discovery/Natl-Geo hour on the Romans, or perhaps in GIBBON, there was a throwaway detail about how the Romans were afeard of the open ocean. Now, there's no disputing the fearsomeness of Mother Nature, whether in her ocean manifestation or whichever, so I'm not mocking that. But humor is in incongruities (besides hostility), and the contrast between those (short?) little monster dudes being skeered just strikes me a bit funny. The source said they tried to stick fairly close to the coastlines as much as they could...

(I supposed the cuteness of cats can't but follow here... )
