So the hubby and I watched Chopped last night and I had to explain Turducken to him.

It was one of the secret ingredients they had to use for the entree course.

He was revolted by the notion of it, but I was amused that turducken has been the topic of so many conversations this week between DU and our scintillating home conversation on this important topic.

I'm tempted to serve it for Thanksgiving just for kicks.

1. The name alone makes me think - "um, no".

If you want to score a joke, get a block of tofu and put it (cold) on a paper plate in the center of the table.

Yes, I eat tofu (cooked), but it is still a good thing to joke about.

2. I was more revolted by the appetizer ingredient on the show: seafood sausage.

Everything about seafood sausage seems unappealing to me. I would rather eat century eggs or haggis than sausage made from fish and/or fish-like critters.

14. Actually, I had shrimp sausage once, it was delicious.

It wasn't smoked, it was just raw, ground up shrimp mixed with various herbs and spices and stuffed into a casing. Could have been made in patty form just as easily.

Basically, it's nothing more than a fancy way of serving crabcakes or similar -- that's all it boils down to. Same overall concept, same overall taste.
