Do I need a new dryer, or can it be fixed? |
|
For the last couple weeks, there's a banshee scream coming from my clothes dryer, and it's getting worse. I've never actually thought about how dryers work before, but I assume that it's belt drive and not direct drive, otherwise there'd be a big section in back for the motor, right? Maybe it's a loose belt?
Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? Is it an easy fix? Something that I can do myself?
Any help's appreciated, kids.
Gracias.

1. sounds like a belt....if you are handy with tools- |
|
you can go on line to find out how to fix the problem. there should be youtube videos on this. i changed mine without to much of a problem. another good thing to do is take photos when you take it apart.

2. Thanks, I'll check youtube and such. |

I'm handy enough with tools. I also have a knack for following directions. Good tip about the photos.
Thanks again!

3. It's ridiculously simple to change the belt |
|
Just take the front cover off, slide the tub out, and the belt change is a breeze.
While you're in there, check the bushing on the rubber wheel that the tub rides on. That could also be your culprit.
