Dissed someone at work today |
|
Told my coworker--"look, if he's going to add to my project, I want you to check it out and make sure it's up to snuff. I spent a lot of time making my stuff right, and I don't want it screwed up by him."
Was really unnecessary, and feel like an asshole. And there's no real way to apologize to expurge the guit.... argh :(

1. You'd be surprised what a simple honest apology |
|

will do. As long as you're honest and sincere, I'm sure it'll be accepted. All you'd have to say is just what you wrote here.

3. I can't apologize to him--I was talking about him behind his back |
|
That's the trouble of it. I can apologize to the person to whom I was speaking--which is OK, I guess. But I don't want to bring it up with the subject--that would do more harm than good...

5. Right. But speaking your mind to the person you said this to |
|

by apologizing will likely nip it at the bud. You can't punish yourself for thinking bad things. We all do that. Looks like you learned from it. Good. I've learned many a lesson via the foot-in-mouth method.

Sometimes you gotta stand up for yourself. You probably just named something everyone else knew about all along. I just hope the guy you dissed isn't boss's favorite. That happened to me once but I don't regret doing it.
Sometimes the truth hurts....

7. Don't lose any sleep over it |

He probably respects you more for it. It was honest and shows you take pride in your work. And, let's face it, most people don't.

If you need to apologise, do. If you'd rather not, don't. Nothing you said was particularly outrageous or offensive to me, but trust your gut.
Sometimes, strategic apologies can be very effective, especially if they have some basis in sincerity. Believe me, people can tell.

9. Unless you had some ulterior motive for what you said |
|
--that is, if you were just honest expressing your opinion, fugeddahboudit. The truth is the truth is the truth. Screw his/her incompetent ass. If you have some basis for a friendship other than your job together, it probably won't matter much anyway.
