I may have to go with Robert Johnson. He was an original. In my somewhat limited experience, he has such a vast influence for such a short carreer. I have a best of collection of his.
On another note I think it is interesting that Eric Clapton and Aerosmith released albums of blues covers on the same day. THough, unlike Clapton, Aerosmith did not have only Robert Johnson covers.
