7. I'm not religious
at all but I'm dissapointed that the responses up to now do nothing but ridicule him. Okay, it's a little wierd but he's not doing anyone any harm, is he?

8. What is the proper response?
Out of curiosity? Should we be in awe? I'm genuinely asking.

9. Not awe
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 02:15 PM by mrfrapp
Why would you ask that?

on edit: to clarify, my response is indifference. He does what he does for whatever reason. I see no reason to comment unless he's doing something that harms other people in some way.

10. I'm just curious if there is a response other than shock, horror
or ridicule for a stunt like this. Is it supposed to make us have a different reaction? I'd like to say that he's not doing it for "us," but then what's his picture doing on the Internet? It's a paradoxically public way of following one's personal spiritual path.

12. I wouldn't call it a stunt.
I don't suppose the man in question chose to put the picture on the Internet so I can't defend it from that perspective.

I don't know. If that's how he's choosing to express his religion than that's up to him. It's not doing anyone else any harm. I've no objection to having a bit of fun with the image but I'm uneasy with opinions that he's an idiot, etc.

13. I basically agree with you. There's not enough information to judge
the guy one way or the other. People who are uncomfortable with the strange--myself included, of course--often just react to it with humor. I don't see anything wrong with that. But I don't really judge the guy for doing what he's doing. If he wants to sit in the ground like a jackass for ten days to worship his gods, that's his business. (I'm kidding!)

11. Devotees offer flowers.....
"Yeah, thanks guys, flowers.....Just what I needed! Just stick them on my head.....Now that I can't wave away bees or anything!?!!?!?!"

Honestly, it's enough to make a Sadhu curse...
