6. Paragon wasn't the only one
I haven't looked up the results to find out when the Tigs earned their fourth victory last year, but I noticed they were 3-25 after 28 games.
The way things are going, we might have more victories by mid-June than we did all last year. It's also the second straight game we dug ourselves a hole and then climbed out of it to win.
I'm beginning to think the Detroit offense is going to score a LOT of runs this year -- enough to keep our so-so pitching staff in the vast majority of games (unlike last year).
Can we finish above .500? I'm starting to think so. Go Tigs!!
John
My battle call is "25 for 25." That is, Detroit should shoot for at least 25 victories by the time Dmitri Young gets back in 4-6 weeks. I figure that should put the team somewhere around 25-15 -- good enough to put us into real contention in the AL Central.
Let's win tomorrow, too!

4. Tigers pull off comeback. Score 10 in final 3 innings.Win 10-6
Best start by Tigers since 1985.

Bobby Higginson (?!?) the hero with 2 big 2 out extra base hits to drive in 4 RBIs.

Everything is going the Tigers way right now. ALEX SANCHEZ (Mr. Bunt single) took Twins pitching deep for a HR. Munson with a HR as well.

Central Division leading Tigers unbeaten streak rolls on!

8. For the record... this is the 100th anniversary of the Old English D
The Detroit Tigers Old English "D" logo is celebrating it's 100th anniversary.

It's the longest continuous use of a logo in sports.

The Tigers won their fourth game last year on May 4. So we're already almost a month ahead of schedule.
John
I love these guys even when they lose. But I'll admit I love them a little better when they win.
ON EDIT: Mouse, I missed that little trivia fact re: the Olde English "D." I'll wear my MLB-authentic Tig home jersey to the next game (not long from now if my buddy Mike B gets laid-off from Delphi for the summer as he's hoping) with a bit more pride knowing that.

12. Lucky Mouse7 got free MLB.com audio with his broadband account
I've listened to every inning of every Tiger game thus far. It's too cool for words!

That's where I picked the "Old English D" factoid.

13. Tigers generate attention
"...The best sign of respect came at Joe Louis Arena. After years of Red Wings playoff updates during early-season games at Comerica Park, Wednesday featured the opposite. One of the loudest ovations heard at the Wings' playoff opener Wednesday night came when the Tigers' 6-3 win was announced.

"It's a sign of the kind of support we have around here," said manager Alan Trammell. "There's a buzz around here, and that'll happen when you win a few ballgames."

The victories in Toronto brought out a stronger response from a sellout crowd Thursday that's usually vocal for the annual home opener regardless of the Tigers' record. It went into an uproar when Nate Cornejo threw a splitter past Corey Koskie for a first-inning strikeout with runners on second and third.

The loudest ovation before the game was for someone who hasn't even in it. Dmitri Young limped onto the field for pregame introductions, as promised, to a lengthy applause. The greeting Ivan Rodriguez received in his first game in Detroit came close...."

14. The pic in that link is gr-r-r-r-r-reat!
I don't know how to post pix, but if someone who does can post it here that would be cool.
John
Al Kaline in the dugout in full uniform through the first four games is way cool too. I interviewed him, oh, fifteen years ago and asked him if he ever had an urge to manage in the major leagues.
"No," he said. "I wouldn't have the patience to deal with 25 spoiled brats."
You've got to admit, that's a quote any sports writer would love to get.

And you make that pic posting thing sound so simple that even I could do it. But don't bet on it.
John
Thank you. And I'm going to give that cut and paste a try here soon. Really I am. I mean it.
