10. This spider once built a huge web in the doorway of my apartment.

It was such a work of art I couldn't bring myself to tear it down. Plus, it was right in time for Halloween if I remember correctly. So I named him "Ziggy" (though I had no way of knowing whether he was a Spider from Mars obviously) and told him that we were cool as long as he stayed on his side of the door, and not inside. And so the doorway was his home for months, until the idiot landlord finally knocked him down :(

I have no fear or problem with spiders - as long as they are outside as nature intended. But once in the house, it's splat time (I hate waking up with bug bites all over me)

The only thing they eat is insects, which bite you when you sleep (spiders usually don't) and eat your food / house. If you kill a spider, you're only getting more insects.

They can spin webs of a substance so strong it makes kevlar look like a wet paper bag, that we can still cannot duplicate because it is so complex.

They can regenerate lost limbs when they molt, are very resistant to radiation, and have a unique way of swimming involving air bubbles and their bristles.

In short, they're beneficial creatures, and it saddens me everytime one is killed out of ignorance and fear.
