Go buy a new keyboard. You can get one for appx. $10.
OK, that's not the same thing as fixing it, but, hey, when you take your car in to be fixed, they don't "fix" the part that is broken, they replace it.

and I think this company is too cheap to fork over the $10.
Any other suggestions?

You could try some solvent. Go to the Radio Shack and get a can of spray Contact Cleaner.
Carefully pry the spacebar off, noting how the little wire bale (essential for proper function) attaches to the keytop and the keyboard. Spray some contact cleaner into the keyswitch, You won't need much. Even if it looks like the keyswitch is sealed, spray some onto it. Then rapidly press the switch a few dozen times to get the cleaner into the switch body. Wait. Allow to dry. Then carefully replace the keytop and the wire bale.
Sometimes this works.
Here is the catch. A can of spray cleaner is like $4.95. The other day I bought a cheap but serviceable new keyboard and mouse together for $9.95.

4. I had my boss try that |
|
It didn't work. Thanks for the tip though. My boss suggested that I switch this keyboard for another one in the office. He's a swell guy!

7. Next time you are at a garage sale... |
|
you can often get one for fifty cents.
Put your name on the bottom in indelible marker, and take it away with you when you eventually leave the job. As a contractor, I often have to bring my own keyboards, mice, USB floppy drives and whatnot to use with whatever equipment the client is able to come up with. So, I deface all of the bits I own with "Personal Property of Ben Burch"
Sorry you are at a place where a $10 keyboard is a big deal!

5. try running "PC Doctor" if you have it. |
|
My keyboard on my laptop has the program "PC Doctor" built into it and my space bar was sticking. I ran that program on the keyboard for a "fix" and also hit it with some canned air. It fixed the problem (was a few weeks ago).
Glad I didn't have to replace it being its a ThinkPad - would have cost me lots of $$$$ I bet.

8. If it's on your computer it's a reset button |
|
Okay, now that's out of the way, pry it off gently, and remove the years and years worth of crap that's accumulated underneat it. If that doesn't work, get a new one, wireless keyboards are worth every penny.
