10. Unfortunately, the concept is a lot more interesting than the music. |

Mostly, it's just pedestrian remakes of hits from the Big Band Era. However, the first track on Side 1 is a spoken-word introduction with female back-up singers crooning, "We're partners in defense/We're guarding freedom's skies." And it's priceless!
I'm thinking about transferring some of the weirder stuff from my vinyl collection to the hard drive and burn a series of CDs titled something like INCREDIBLY STRANGE RECORDS. (Thank you, Re/Search Publications!)

7. The LP is by the NORAD Commanders Orchestra, conducted... |
|
...by Major Mark Azzolina. It was recorded in 1969 to celebrate NORAD's tenth anniversary. That's what the liner notes say, at least.

I had excpunged from my memory the existence of CB Radio inspired music. Crap, now I'm remembering some of it.
"We're gonna have a convoy...."
I'd also forgotten about PacMan Fever, so thanks for reminding me of that.
I'm very interested in that NORAD album! And the theremin one - is it any good, or is it just silly noodling with the theremin from bozos trying to cash in on the theremin phenomenon?

You'd be amazed at some of the offbeat vinyl you can score cheaply at those places!

The "Ritual of the Savage" and the Ethel Merman.
And I used to have the Pac Man Fever record when I was a kid, but I don't know where the hell it is anymore.
