I am listening to Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic. Ask me anything. |
|
You may dislike Aerosmith, but if you listen to their classic 70's output objectively, it is pretty damn good. It is my second favorite album by them, the first being Rocks.

How did Aerosmith turn from a kickass rock band into a pathetic bunch of sellouts doing Gap commercials?

That's why I return to the 70's stuff. I just can't accept that it's the same band.

7. Well, I don't quite share your opinion, though, I understand it. |

The thing is, I never had a problem with anything Aerosmith did through Nine Lives. I do have some issues with Just Push Play, being a little too sell out. But they still put on a great live show. Their new album sounds great. Blues covers. They litterally paid their dues twice over. First back in the 70's and second before they made their comeback. As for the Gap commercial, it was kind of objectionable, though I heard that they gave the money made from that to schools to keep their music programs, so I guess if you are going to sell out, do it responsibly. I guess you cannot tell a bunch of rockers in their 50's what is good for them. They have come further than most people would ever hope to in the music industry. THough, I will admit, I am partial to their 70's material.

current lameass garbage and not even be able to blame it on drug use! 70s Aerosmith was a very good trashy little band (with a brilliant producer on board), but the current "band" is a pathetic joke. Steven Tyler is currently tied with Lenny Kravitz as "musician most like a rock star character on The Love Boat" Absolutely pathetic. Did you know that March is "facelift month" for Aerosmith? True.

...on their new album of blues covers, they actually got back together with that producer of their 70's material. Jack Douglas is the man. He also produced John Lennon's Double Fantasy.
