Anyone else use Nasonex?
And does anyone else end up barfing after using it?

I went to the doctor yesterday to find I have a sinus infection, AND a cold. He gave me Nasonex instead of antibiotics. Cool by me, I avoid antibiotics whenever possible. Anyway, Nasonex is a cortisone nasal spray.

I used it last night before bed for the first time. Went to bed, did my asthma med routine, popped a flexeril (oooohh, flexeril. Glad I went to the doctor yesterday - I've been out of flex for EVER) and laid back to chill out and watch a movie. :smoke:

A little while after laying down (not sure exactly of the timeframe) I started feeling VERY ill. Shortly after that, I started hurling. I didn't think anything of it at the time - my asthma makes me cough so hard I hurl allllll the time, and I was coughing a little.

Got up this morning, snorted some more Nasonex, started getting ready for work. When it was close to the time I leave the house, I went in the bathroom, took my vitamins, brushed my teeth, then headed to the kitchen to put coffee in my travel mug before crating the dog and heading out the door. As I was standing in the kitchen I again felt VERY ill. Ran to the bathroom, and hurled.

I looked for side effects online, and they do mention nausea, but this goes beyond nausea into hurling territory. I don't know for SURE that this is what's causing it. Should have a good idea before long, as I just snorted some more :)

Anyone else deal with this stuff? What's it do to you?

1. I never got nausea from it.
Of course, I didn't use it nearly as often as my doctor told me too, either. The problem with nasal spray is, you have to be breathing clearly in the first place in order to get the full effect.

3. I take really hot showers
clear my sinuses good with that and use the spray immediately afterward. Works for me anyway.

2. I do
but I've never had that reaction. I would discontinue use and call your doctor, unless you like hurling.

I found when I started aggressively treating my allergies — Nasonex every day and Zyrtec when I'm feeling stuffy — I have had far fewer sinus infections. I think the key is to keep your sinus cavities clear so bacteria doesn't have a place to grow.

Hope you feel better.

4. Thanks - :)
I don't feel so bad, all things considered.

I plan to continue experimenting with this Nasonex thing, at least throughout the weekend. I only am supposed to do it 2x per day - I just did a little while ago, so I'm in wait and see mode.

I'm still collecting evidence for my theory, I guess you could say. *L*

It wasn't until I threw up again this morning that I started suspecting the Nasonex.

I'm also on a bunch of other stuff right now - started Zyban, again. Also have the flexerils, and some percocet (haven't taken any percs, and probably won't for a long time, only for unbearable pain) plus my cortisone powder asthma inhaler, and the albuterol inhaler, and the vitamins I'm taking daily now, since about 2 weeks ago when I first got sick.

No WONDER my tummy hurts! :D

6. I bet it's the Zyban causing it
It made me nauseous, jittery, anxious, and gave me insomnia.

7. I've done Zyban before...
No problems. I did feel a bit "weird" for about a week, and then it felt like my body just shifted again to normal.

5. Nasonex gave me bad headaches.
I have had pretty good luck with Flonase. Hope you are feeling better soon. Sinus infections are no fun.
