I am a pack-rat! Spring cleaning time.
My god, I tossed clothing I haven't worn in 20 years today. It is hard for me to discard things because I always think "I may need this someday". I tossed a couple of fans, an air cleaner, knick-knacks people have given me over the years, my text books from college (20 years ago), and some of my old uniforms from the service- I don't think the Marine corps will need the services of a 40 year old Lance corporal.
I have decided I need to get a grip on my "saving" things I don't use. How many other pack rats are out there?????????

My spring break is almost over, and I am still trying to clean my office. So far, I:

*Boxed up 25 boxes of books to get them out of the way, so I would have room to clean and reorganize my little 10 X 10 office. I'm hoping to move this summer; if not, I'm going to have to find somewhere in this tiny little cottage for more bookshelves.

* Cleaned and reorganized everything left on the shelves; pictures, music, software, maps, the 60 or so books I didn't pack, office supplies, etc.

* Tried to figure out what to do with about 50 floppys; I don't want to toss them but don't know how to convert them. Especially since software updates have made them currently unreadable. I'm sorry to say that I kept them all.

* Found the zip drive that this computer was supposed to come with; they left it off, and shipped me one three months later. It's still in the box; I've never tried to figure out how to hook it up. But I sorted all of my zip disks.

* Looked at all of the old software on floppys and CDs more than a decade old and I don't use anymore, and....filed them neatly back on one of the shelves. ;(

* dusted, cleaned, and de-cobwebbed all the shelves, the computer table, the window blinds, and the walls.

* Filled half a trash can with trash.

What I haven't done yet:

* The large pile of papers, magazines, and miscellania in the middle of the floor

* found the surface of the actual desk, which is still buried about 12 inches deep.

* Made a small stack of stuff to take to work on Monday.

* Made a smaller stack of stuff to get rid of.

* Figured out where to store those 25 boxes of books; I've already got a shed outside with another 1500 books or so, and I've got 3 truckloads full of stuff at work that will have to come home for the summer.

I'm failing! I'm cleaning and organizing, but not getting rid of nearly enough stuff!

Ah, well.
