Ack! Winter is back in South Texas
An hour ago it was 80, heat index of 82. Played golf this morning and it was mildly sweltering (reminiscent of next month). Its now 59 with a thunderstorm here in San Antonio. Tuesday morning will be 35.

And I'm still sitting here on the patio in my shorts and golf shirt. Brrrr......

9. What desert?
I used to live in the Sonora Desert, and when I moved to the Midwest, I spent plenty of time trying to explain that no, it isn't all sand dunes...

3. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I'm in Dallas! I just planted a bazillion new mail order plants, and was going to start putting in my pond this weekend over the long weekend.

CRAP!

I noticed it was gorgeous this morning, then I finished watching a movie on A & E, and when it was done, a huge black cloud was hovering.

So much for my productive weekend. Looks like I'll end up mosaicking more patio stones and painting my Adirondack chairs instead. SHIT!

4. I'm in Austin
I'm freezing now too. Its 57, raining, and miserable. I've become such weakling with cold weather living down here. Its not even really cold. :)

5. I'm in Austin, too, and had hail
A pretty good amount, too! Marble sized hail. My car was happily in the garage.

6. Wusses, all a ya.
When you have to get up at 6am, 30 below plus wind chill, to shovel a foot of snow off your driveway, then you may complain. Until then, keep your whining about Texas non-winter to yourself. ;-)

Although, to be fair, where I live, a hot summer approaches around 25-30 degrees celsius. That's about 80 degrees to you yanks, and I find it very uncomfortable. In a Texas summer, I'd probably burst into flame.

7. I guess what you describe
is why I can't live north of Austin. I even hate to travel north of Austin from November to April.

I used to live in Chicago's far NW burbs, away from Lake Michigan and the 'heat island effect,' and while it wasn't always -30, we did get wind chills like that every now and then, and I enjoyed it, esp. with snow on the ground.;-)

I also lived in Phoenix, 40-45 degrees Celsius summers. Having experienced both extremes, I must say I loooooooooooove the cold. I plan on moving to Anchorage after college.

Edit: For those of you who aren't Canadians, 40-45 Celsius=104-113 Fahrenheit. Sometimes it'll go down to around 100; occasionally, it'll break 120.
