there was a guy...
there was a guy
an underwater guy who controlled the sea
he got killed by ten million pounds of sludge
from new york and new jersey

this monkey's gone to heaven

the creature in the sky
got sucked in a hole
now there's a hole in the sky
and the ground's not cold
and if the ground's not cold
everything is gonna burn
we'll all take turns
i'll get mine too

this monkey's gone to heaven

rock me, joe!

if man is 5
if man is 5
if man is 5

then the devil is 6
then the devil is 6
then the devil is 6
then the devil is 6

And if the devil is 6
then god is 7
then god is 7
then god is 7

this monkey's gone to heaven

3. Do you like Doolittle more than Surfer Rosa?
Most Pixies fans don't, but I do. I think I'm biased because I heard Doolittle first, so to me it kind of was their first album by default.

and I did hear Surfer Rosa first, but I know what you're saying. I've heard that many Pixies fans don't care for Doolittle as much as Surfer Rosa.

5. Aha
So that is what those few lines in the song "Fire Water Burn" by the Bloodhound Gang mean. They are a tribute to that song.

You learn useless shit everyday, don'tcha? LOL

6. hey, you're right
I never heard that song.

"The Pixies are one of those bands that every 'alt' rock band (and more) has been influened by, but yet the Pixies have never quite seemed to get their just due. Though huge bands as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and even Weezer have gone on record saying how much they were influenced by the Pixies. Bloodhound Gang's hit single 'Fire Water Burn' uses a whole verse to reference the Pixies' 'Monkey Gone to Heaven.' On their last album, Papa Roach did a cover of 'Gouge Away' (those bastards!). And where would the movie 'Fight Club' be without 'Where is My Mind' playing at the end as the world collapses."

7. You know what's really weird?
"Where is my mind" isn't on the Fight Club soundtrack. I saw it on vinyl once, and didn't see it listed as one of the tracks. I wonder why? I thought that was THE most important song from the movie.
