Our sliding glass doors ended another bird's life today |
|
That would make two since I have lived in this house.
The poor little thing. We watched her die of a broken neck , on the porch, coughing up blood; her mate hopped around her, squawking for a while before flying off --
I just buried her in the back yard. :-(

A sticker of a hawk you can stick on your glass door. It scares away little birds but at least they won't hit your door anymore.

6. You might want to try this. |
|
I think You can get stickers of bird shapes to stick on glass doors and windows and it apparently helps the bird steer clear from flying head on into the glass. There's a Toronto subway station that sits outdoors at ground level near a natural ravine, it's largely glass enclosed and I noticed that on each window there was a sticker in the shape of a silhouette of a bird in flight (ie wings outstretched). Someone told me it was to help prevent the birds flying into the glass.

9. Hang some suncatchers on it. |
|
That's what we do, and we've not had any birds hit ours since, plus which the suncatchers diffuse the light into such pretty colors.:)
