I discussed plans at the DU meeting yesterday for a redecorating of a Fremont icon with a Black Box Voting theme. It seems now that time would be of the essence considering how well my idea fits into the one above. I do believe the "Waiting for the Interurban" is waiting for us. Who's in?

I am doing this tomorrow night late - after midnight. However, I could use help in the evening with getting the stuff made and put together. I could also use some supplies - I have most of what I need but could use some clear packing tape, some black paint, white spray paint, some regular twine and some extra hands and some ideas.
My overall plan is to place a large black box in front of the statues, to place a sign over the child that says "My vote didn't count" (I wanted to put it on the dog but it can't be seen well), and I want to come up with two different really good slogans to iron on to t-shirts to be placed on two of the people. I want to put Brand Democrat magnets all over the metal portions, easily removed and hopefully people will take them and put them on their refrigerators at home. Most importantly, I want to make a banner that says BlackBoxVoting.org to place across the top and two banners on either side asking, "Did your vote count?". I want to downplay the Kerry/Edwards stuff because this is an issue that is far bigger than them and I don't want it to be seen as too partisan (yeah, I know, the Brand Democrat stuff is partisan, but bite me). I'd also like to put phrases such as the one stating that it isn't the voter that counts, it's who counts the votes and so on.
Anyway, I could really use extra hands. I'm going to post a similar thing in the activism forum but you all are more likely local - I live in Fremont. So if you want to help tomorrow night, either with prep or with the actual placement of our art, please email me here, thanks.
