Sat. 12-4-04 Columbus, OH events - Please keep kicked until Sat. night.
Please keep this kicked up until Sat. night.

RALLY! "Investigate all 88 counties, Litigate, Re-Count, Recuse”

Saturday, December 4th,
Columbus, OH
1:00 PM,
Ohio Statehouse Lawn
East Broad & South High Streets,
Columbus, Ohio

We demand that every vote be counted accurately from the Nov 2nd election. We demand a full re-count of Ohio's votes and a thorough investigation of all reported irregularities and discrepancies and charges of voter disenfranchisement throughout the state. The right to vote is a civil right and in a democracy no abridgement of that right can be tolerated. In Kiev, hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are on the streets, staying there overnight in the bitter cold, bringing the government to a halt and the world to attention, refusing to let democracy die. There are people coming to Ohio from all over the country for this rally. Let’s do this.

SPEAKERS:
Greg Palast (journalist and author of The Best Democracy Money Can Buy),
Bill Moss (former Columbus school board member),
Bob Fitrakis (Columbus Free Press),
Reuben Herrera (Adelante - Latino/Latina Democrats),
Anita Rios (Green Party),
Cliff Arnebeck (lead litigant in the Contest of Election suit),
Jad Hummeidan (Council on American Islamic Relations),
Petey Talley (Ohio AFL-CIO) (invited),
Charleta Tavares (Columbus City Council member) (invited)

10. Email Unitarian Unviersalist Churches in Ohio to join Rally
UU churchs have a strong history of activism. Please email UU churches in Ohio to join the Rally and speak up on the vote fraud issue! Here is how -- below are the emails of the UU congregations in Ohio. Also below is the title of a potential letter and also a suggested letter itself. Thanks.

Title is: UUs should COUNT THE VOTES AND MAKE THE VOTES COUNT

Letter is: An open letter to UUs in Ohio: On page 13 of the November/December UU World Magazine you can read about voting fraud. In Ohio you can open your front door and see questions about voting fraud and voting irregularities face to face. While Jesse Jackson has walked to the front of the bus to question the voting process in Ohio, Unitarian Universalists everywhere have been silent. Suffice it say that this is NOT an UU tradition! The mainstream media has not covered the concerns about the vote this does not mean that UUs shouldn’t be concerned!

Voters across America urge Ohio UUs and the entire Unitarian Universalist Association to volunteer for the recount in Ohio, to make a statement to the press concerning the vote in Ohio and other states which suffered significant voting irregularities, and to get involved with making every vote count. The League of Women Voters, the General Accounting Office, Common Cause, and many other organizations see enough voting irregularities to be cause for concern. Unitarian Universalists should too. American voters who can’t be in Ohio also urge UUs to attend the following rally.

12. Signs for rally - Re_post - originally from "Talking dog"

MANY THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR...SPREADING THE WORD.

MAKING SIGNS

1) Use FoamCore. Cardboard or cardstock is heavy & warps and bends too easily.

2) Also use the FoamCore to make the handle if possible. Wood is heavy and unweildy. You can make the handle by scoring one side of the paper on the foamcore and folding it back to make a long rectangle or triangle.
Use a heavy duty stapler to staple the handle to the sign. Put the handle at least 1/3 of the way up the back to make it sturdy. Then use DuctTape to tape the Handle closed and to doubly secure it to the sign.
Use the duct tape to make a comfortable "handle" for you. It's hard work holding a sign up . You may also want to consider a small piece of structural wood inside the handle at the gripping point.

3) Use acrylic paint. Poster paint flakes and is water soluable. Go to a Big Lots or some 2nd hand store to pick up some paint. Sometimes the hardware store will have returned paint (wrong color or some such) on the cheap.

4) MAKE IT GRAPHIC!!! Dark colors: dark blue, black are best followed by red or green outlined with black. If you are using colored foamcore, consider the color of the paper when choosing the color of the paint. Big Blocky letters. Use your word processor to figure out relative spacing first. Remember we are the literate ones. Nothing looks worse than a sign with bad spacing or incorrect spelling.

5) Consider making wind holes in your signs. If it is windy it gets to be a struggle to keep your sign up right. Wind holes will help the wind pass through your sign. Scatter them across the face of the placard, in places where they do not interfere with the message. This has the added bonus of making the sign lighter.
Do this work on a flat stable surface. Not carpet. You want to keep the sign from bending.

You might also consider making the sign and then assembling it on site. In other words take the handle and placard seperately then staple and tape on site. This will make it easier to transport.

gods-speed
