2. 51 Capitals March - California
The Capitol is on 10th Street between L and N Streets. A Bay Area group taking Amtrak out of Oakland will be arriving in Sacramento at 10:55. The Capitol Mall is near a large shopping mall where there are many places to eat. Both locations are indicated on Mapquest.

5. I'm headed to Sacramento
And I'm looking for volunteers to do security patrol. According to the permit issuing agency, the CHP, we need one security person for each 50 attendees. As we don't know how many people will be going, we need to do this on the fly. I'm looking for volunteers for this and for First Aid.

Keep up the fight.

8. Most rallies are held on the "N" street side at about 11th street
K street is a pedestrian mall with food, there used to be a great bar on 7th and N or I know there is a great bar at 10th & "S" streets (Old Ironsides) family owned and operated since 1932 (first liquor license after the repeal of prohibition)

they do lunches and alternative local music at night

you may want to call them and see when they open on Sunday (10AM I think so may be a good meet spot only 5 blocks down from the capitol)

6. oohh... so tempting... but I have to be a tentative 'maybe'
I'm returning from a road-trip late Saturday night, and I may not be alive enough to make a trip to Sac quite that early..

but I'll try!!!

9. Hi you guys... I'm in Sacramento...
Meeting at Old I is a good idea, but I'm not sure what time they open. My daughter hangs out there, so will ask her tomorrow. I can call them if she doesn't know. I'll post again tomorrow to let you guys know about that.

Another good place to meet is the Fox & Goose Pub, although they'll be packed for brunch (great food) at 10:00 AM on Sunday. This is my hang-out, though, so I know the bartenders and the owners and can get them to direct folks looking for me to a certain area of the bar. (It's bigger than Old I, too.) Their website is: http://www.foxandgoose.com Phone there is: 916-443-8825.

Old I is at 10th & S Streets, and the Fox & Goose is at 10th & R Streets, so these two places are just a block apart. There will be more parking down around there than up around the Capitol if we have a good crowd. There's also a big parking lot across from the Goose on R Street. It's one of those things where you are supposed to put money in a box, but there's no attendant, and I dunno if they check it on Sundays anyhow. Regardless, there'll be much more free on-the-street parking down around that area, and it's only a short walk from there straight up 10th to the Capitol. We always park down there when we go to rallies at the Capitol.

Let me know what you guys want to do, and I can help set it up.

Also, if you are going to go to that area, it would be better to stay on I-80 (the one that merges with US-50, also called Capitol City Freeway) and go over the bridge over the Sacramento River, then take the first exit: 5th Street. Go LEFT on 5th, continue up a few blocks to T Street. Hang a RIGHT on T, and then down to 10th. Go LEFT on 10th, and then you are just a block or two away from Old I and the Goose. You'll avoid traffic congestion down around the Capitol area by going this way, in case there are lots of people (oh, I DO hope there will be!!!).

There's a board at the website for the "51 Capitol" rallies where they are trying to organize things by state, too. The boards are here: http://www.51capitalmarch.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl

OK... I'm going to bed now. I just wanted to let you guys know I'm wiling to do what I can to help out.

11. I just checked with them, and
Old Ironsides doesn't open until 1:00 on Sunday, so it looks like that wouldn't be a good place to meet. Let me know if I can help...

14. What about the Capitol Garage?
It's a coffee shop right across the street from the capitol? It's kind of grunge/goth, but the location is right :)

16. We'll prolly just park down by the Goose and
walk up 10th to the Capitol. Capitol Garage is closer, but if there are very many people, I'm afraid parking will be a bitch closer to the Capitol. If we get an early start, we may stop in there, tho. Knowing how we usually are, we'll prolly be hoofing it to get there by noon, tho. Are you gonna be wearing read gloves? I've gotta go out and try to find some in the morning. :D Looking forward to this. I NEED to do something active about this. I'm going nuts sitting here behind the computer raising hell. I need to do some yelling! ;)

20. Hi Dot!
Didja see I said Hiya to ya on another thread last night? :D 11:11, eh? :scared: skeeeery! ;) The rally was really great! The coordinator estimated about 450 people were there (news media will say less, I'm sure--IF they were there... I saw one guy who looked like a news cameraman, but couldn't quite catch which channel... maybe Ch. 3?). I took some pix and am working on those now. There's another rally tomorrow at 10 AM so that people are there when the electors gather to vote tomorrow, so it looks like we'll be going back again in the morning.

24. Yes, I posted there (different name) - no luck
Hope you guys had a good turn-out - I 'll try to make it to the next one. Public transit on Sundays on the Peninsula can't get me to the Amtrak station on time.

18. Some info from the "51 Capitol March" board...
that may be of interest? "abunch of local groups and people from CSUS will be meeting at 5th and I at 11:00am to march over with all those arriving by train." Maybe this will help some who want to meet up with others? It made me feel better that maybe there will be a good number of people there tomorrow, too!

21. Sorry I missed everybody
I wasn't able to go for coffee first (the rugrat was up half the night and I chose to sleep in) but I was at the rally. Hope everybody had a good time.

I'll try to go to the event tomorrow but I don't know if I'll have a sitter for LK. Are there any plans to meet up before or after that one?

regarding the time for tomorrow's rally. I was thnking 10:00 because the guy who talked about it onstage said they had reserved the space starting at 10:00, but the flyer they handed out says:
