Judge rules for school over student Bush 'Chicken-Hawk' T-shirt --A federal judge has ruled in favor of the Williamstown (VT) public school officials who forced a student to cover up any 'images of drugs and alcohol' on a politically charged T-shirt. U.S. District Court Judge William K. Sessions on Monday ruled that Zachary Guiles' First Amendment right to free speech was not violated when Williamstown Middle School Principal Kathleen Morris-Kortz ordered him to cover up certain images on a shirt that was critical of President George W. Bush. The shirt had a variety of images on it, including cocaine and a martini glass. It referred to Bush as a lying drunk driver who abused cocaine and marijuana, and called the president the "chicken-hawk-in-chief" who was engaged in a "world domination tour."
Buy your 'banned' Bush 'Chicken-Hawk' T-shirts here, and help support the CLG!!! http://legitgov.org/T_shirts_bush_chickenhawk_011704.html

Quick action!! Contact Morris-Kortz, and express your sentiments:

MY EMAIL TO MS. MORRIS-WHAT'SHERPUSS
Dear Ms. Morris: It is people like you who are going to cry when you've finally suceeded in diminishing First Amendment Rights to Freedom of Speech! And it is people like you that inspire me to press on in the battle to rid schools of people with your ideology and see to it that my child is NEVER taught ANYTHING by the likes of you and anything you would stand for! Sincerely,

1. Sorry, I don't think kids should wear controversial tee shirts to school.

In fact, I think uniforms are a great idea so they know exactly what they are allowed to wear to school and can keep the clothes they like for other times.

"Message" tee shirts at school = yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater & are therefore not protected as free speech.

3. The kid has a viable action against the school ... no?
I refer to the black armband case during the Vietnam era.
