Will the DC Metro be closed on J20?
Someone mentioned this in the panic room, said they'd heard it on the news. I went to the Metro website (http://www.wmata.com /) and clicked on the link to "Riding Metro to Presidential Inauguration brochure released" and the link comes up with this:

Information Alert

Status : 504 Gateway Time-Out

Description : Unable to connect to origin web server. The web site you are attempting to access is currently unreachable. This may be due to a network outage, or the web site might be experiencing technical difficulties.

Same thing happens when you click the link to "Metro outlines service planned for inauguration week."

How Orwellian--an information alert that tells us nothing.

1. I received what must have been 136 copies of that email.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Metro is out, but try to find someone who lives in D.C. to get you more information. Perhaps "diamond41"?

2. Thanks.
I also posted this in Gen'l Discussion and the DC forum. What email are you talking about? Who sent it to you?

5. I had left the computer until around 3 a.m.
I didn't even know that DU was down. I was expecting an email from somebody, and saw that I had 136 new ones. I'm just not that popular.

:hi:

Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 02:12 PM by intheflow
a few Metro stations will be shut down. The Washington Post has a map with closure details here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/metro/daily/graphics/inaugurationClosings_0115.html

Hope to see you there!
