Say "no" to Rice:

Tell Diane Feinstein to stop supporting Rice!::

Tell Sensenbrenner to hold the hearings on the 2004 elections (re: Conyers's request)::

Here's an easy way to fax your Senators:

If you're writing letters to your Senators this weekend to beg
them NOT to confirm Condi, like I am, here's an easy way to FAX them.
I believe FAXES are better - hard copies just get looked at quicker
than do emails.

Send a multiple efax now!
copy and paste a block of fax-email addresses into the 'To' field of
a blank email

ps- you are only allowed 6 faxes per day or 20/wk- so this is
set up for 5/day, four days in a row. Also, you have to send
the next email a full 24 hours after the previous email- ie
if you send one to the first 5 Senators today at 1pm, wait until
1:05 tomorrow to send the next email or it will get bounced.

I'm thinking of springing for the 9.95 a month that godaddy offers for my account. When I wanna fax, I wanna fax!

Thanks for helping!!

10. If you have a fax machine, you can send as many as you like
For those of us with no fax machine and only email and this "fax from email" sad little program, we are limited.

I am still searching for a better fax from email program that is cheap.

22. Calling card
I'm not sure how it work but you can get calling cards
fairly cheap on eBay.com. I picked up a 100minute card
for $5 with shipping. Might be good for you since
your faxing from home.

14. I just faxed Dole and Burr using the ACLU's free fax feature
LOL. I typed in my zip code and when the fax letter page came up, I just replaced their verbiage about the Data-Mining Moratorium Act with text about Rice.

It worked like a charm!

Here's how to get to it:

16. Thanks for doing this!
I hope you will keep reminding us in the main Election forum to come and see what's important to act on!

FWIW, my computer has a dial up modem, and I got a fax program like WinFax for a few bucks, so I can use my computer just like a fax machine that prints out documents directly to the fax feed. I can set all the faxes up and then set it to fax while I am sleeping. With phone rates relatively cheap, you can fax all night long for around $24 (8 hrs @ .05/minute). That way you avoid having to print out hard copy and then fax it.

17. Ojai Person, I used to have RingCentral Fax and I really liked it
It worked just like a fax machine and it made me happy. Sigh. I miss it.

I have been using the ACLU's free fax thing. I just replace my text and send it on! ;)

I am trying to work primarily on election reform, believe it or not, but I'm worried that other things will slip right on by us if we don't keep on top of them. The Rice confirmation is one of those things.

27. George W. Bush, Would You Please Go Now!
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 11:23 PM by Hapameli
I had an idea, but I can't start my own thread, so I want to bounce it off you guys.

********************************

From an author's study of Dr. Seuss (link: http://www.anapsid.org/aboutmk/seuss.html)

Ted wrote another book on a dare, one that was published not by a book publisher but in Art Buckwald's column. Buchwald sent Ted a copy of his book, I Never Danced At The White House, and dared him to write a political book. Ted grabbed a copy of Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now! and, knowing the fireworks were already going off at Random House, Ted told Buchwald to go ahead and run it anyway. On August 8, 1974, Buchwald's syndicated column thus began:

Richard M. Nixon, will you please go now!
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go.
Go.
Go!
I don't care how.
You can go by foot.
You can go by cow.
Richard M. Nixon, will you please go now!
You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in a hat.
But
Please go.
Please!…

Nine days later, Nixon announced his resignation. Buchwald claimed credit, Ted claimed intent, and both bemoaned the fact that they hadn't collaborated sooner.
*****************************

What if we get enough people to send this around, to the media, the lawmakers, friends and family? With Nixon's secretary and Rumsfeld's Secret spy force in the news, it could be perfect timing. It has historical significance, but its somewhat amusing and not directly threatening. We can say something like this:

With thanks to Theodore Geisel:

George W. Bush, will you please go now!
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go.
Go.
Go!
I don't care how.
You can go by foot.
You can go by cow.
George W. Bush, will you please go now!
You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in hat
But
Please go...
Please!...

33. Interesting - I had forgotten about that story
One of my favorites.

The media will ignore the hell out of us. Well, the MSM, anyway.

If I were you, Hapameli, I'd send this to Impeachbush.org and to the fine folks at bartcop.com and toostupidtobepresident.com. They might put it on their sites.

I think I'll print that off and tape it up!

Welcome to DU, by the way! :hi: We're glad to have you.

34. Let's Ask Buchwald To Publish "George W. Bush, Would You Please Go Now!"
He did it once and it worked, who's to say he wouldn't be willing to do it again. He might say something like:

"I got 20,000 requests to write this, so here it goes"

It worked with Senator Boxer! Keep the faith!!

Can someone please find Art Buchwald's contact info and start a thread on this? People might be suprised how inspiring Dr. Seuss is:

"Don't give up! I believe in you all!
A person's a person, no matter how small!
And you very small persons will not have to die
If you make yourselves heard! So come on, now, and TRY!"
