March 19 Anti-War Action
From the DC Anti-War Netork, which organized one of the Counter-Inaugural protests (it attracted about 10,000 protesters):

I wanted to tell you what was next for DAWN. Last night, at our weekly
meeting, we endorsed a working group to help mobilize the DC area to go to
Fayetteville, NC, on March 19, the second anniversary of the war in Iraq,
to march on Fort Bragg. We believe that it is important to take the
anti-war movement and show it to the military establishment in places
outside of New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.

I expect to be getting the word out nationwide about this and other
protests on March 19. However, if you want to help the DC effort at
organizing for this important day and work with DAWN's working group,
please reply to this email. We will be doing our best to work with
Veterans for Peace and Military Families Speak Out, who are the main
bottomliners for March 19 in Fayetteville, and we need all the help we can
get.

Stay tuned for more information.

To protest the inauguration of Bush, and especially Bush's policies, is to
do so continuously, more than on one day. Our struggle only has resonance
if it is sustained. Lives depend upon what we do and how well we
organize.

5. There is
nothing listed for Missouri yet. And I live right next door to Whiteman (home of the B-2 "stealth" bomber). I thought there would already be something around here.

9. I have tried to contact a few
but no one seems to be interested. There have been protests here in the past. But the area citizens are known to make threats (and sometimes follow up on them). So I might have to travel to Kansas City for any rallies.

12. There's one little event in the Twin Cities so far.
I want something spectacular.

So, I will need to get calling people. We have many ant1-war groups here and they have been around for decades. They each have a core group and don't respond to "outsiders."

I'm sure that's not a popular statement but I have tried to generate interest among the groups, and offer my help in organizing and media relations, but got nowhere. That's why I took it upon myself to be a co-ordinator for the 51 Capital March.

15. I finally found a listing for an organization in my area
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 03:38 AM by xmas74
called the Warrensburg Peace Coalition, listed at United for Peace.org. There is nothing planned at this time, as far as I can tell and the website for the organization is under construction. I have sent an email to gain further information and will post if there is something (I know, small town here, but I have heard of quite a few college students in this area who lurk on the boards).
Thanks for the advice!

7. Thanks for the posting.
I think I can't wait until March 19th though. Am restarting a Friday night vigil. This war is crazy and criminal.

for this any longer.
I'm hoping to meet up with marchers in Seattle whenever and as often as possible.
Anyone in the area with info on this?
Thanks

14. Soldiers are asking us to protest Iraq War
These Iraq War vets are asking for our help. If ever there was a time protest Iraq, it's now. Please seriously consider attending the "The World Says End the War", global day of protest on March 19 2005

Veterans Protest Iraqi War
Former soldiers in Iraq support troop withdrawal and mass anti-war movement

By WILLIAM C. MARRA
Crimson Staff Writer

...snip...
Two veterans of the ongoing Iraq war addressed 150 people in the Science Center Friday, criticizing the purpose and progress of the war and calling for the immediate withdrawal of American troops.
“The only way you can support the troops is by demanding they be brought back now and they be given the care they deserve when they get home,” said Michael Hoffman, a former Lance Corporal in the Marines and a co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW).

Hoffman and IVAW co-founder Kelly Dougherty, who was a Sergeant in the National Guard, asked the audience to follow the precedent of Vietnam protests and take to the streets en masse so American civilians and soldiers alike come to realize that it is not unpatriotic to oppose the war.

“That’s what’s going to end this war—mass movement,” Hoffman said.
...snip...

Hoffman said the public must take a stand so that soldiers realize they are not letting their country down by opposing war.
