Today I phoned the Bakersfield Humane Society...

(I think that's its name) and spoke to a lady who worked at the thrift shop. I asked her about these terrible things that were being done to the animals and she said that at that very moment they (I think she said the county supervisors-- in my excitement, I forgot) were meeting about it. That it had gotten a lot of press and people want to do something about it.

So that made me feel better. She thanked me for caring and I said, "I love animals." She understood.

Before that, I called a group in the Bay Area and they told me that Bakersfield is notorious for that kind of thing. Really sad.
