My Anti-War Flyer
Many of us want a quick end to the war in Iraq, and are deeply concerned about the frightening possibility that the US will be joining Israel in bombing Iran.

It's shocking, though, how many people don't know anything about what their government has been up to. I wrote up this flyer, which I hope will both educate and motivate people to take action.

I've been e-mailing it to friends and family, asking that they spread it around; slipping flyers into newspapers and shoppers; personally handing them out ("witnessing"); and making them available in free newspaper kiosks. I invite everyone to do the same.

I have this flyer in Word and pdf form. It looks much better all formatted and in color. Can Word files or pdfs be posted on DU? I tried to do so for this post but couldn't.

Failing that, is there anyone who has a website who wouldn't mind making the flyer available for downloads?

Failing THAT, I'd be happy to e-mail this to anyone. Just pm me.

Feel free to download this flyer, cut and paste, and change it up however you like.

THIS NEWS IS NOT ON T.V.

· Why no Iraq "exit strategy" yet? Because we’re never leaving. Since long before 9/11, permanent control over Iraq (and neighbors like Iran) has been the true “neo-con” military goal.

· The U.S. is completing 14 PERMANENT military bases in Iraq. These are major military installations built to resemble American cities: tens of thousands of wooden, air-conditioned houses, Burger Kings, gyms, and other signs of permanent U.S. occupation. Also in the works: a massive military communications system and a $1.1 billion dollar U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

· Humanitarian goals? The Lancet medical journal estimated—last year—that over 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed in the Iraq War. Fallujah and other cities have been flattened. Many tons of depleted uranium, a radioactive waste used in U.S. armor-penetrating missiles linked to cancer, birth defects and Gulf War Syndrome, are now spread over Iraq’s cities.

· Iran is next. The U.S. already has commandoes in Iran assessing initial bombing targets. Extensive U.S. planning to provoke Iran has already taken place. (New Yorker 1/14/05). We have conducted aerial espionage and have undertaken joint military training with Israeli troops on amphibious assault. (Haaretz, 4/20/05) (Tehran is near the Caspian Sea).

· Summer of 2005. That is when the U.S. and Israel plan to attack Iran, say U.S. intelligence personnel. Many have talked off-the-record about America’s alarming intentions, hoping that a loud enough public outcry might stop the planned attack on Iran.

· No 9/11 Connection. As with Iraq, our “pre-emptive strike” on Iran will be an unprovoked war of aggression. Neither country is connected with 9/11. U.S. “intelligence” is once again being manipulated to support the Administration’s war plans. (Daily Times (UK), 5/1/05—revealing the leaked 7/23/02 “smoking gun” memo proving that Bush cooked Iraq intelligence).

· Do you feel a DRAFT? The U.S. military is seriously strained. A "special skills" draft for medical personnel is already drawn up. (Seattle Post, 5/01/04). Forced conscription can thereafter be readily expanded to include other military-aged civilians. Selective Service is now quietly filling 10,350 draft board and 11,070 appeals board slots nationwide.

¤¤¤¤¤¤ Is this what you want for America’s future ? ¤¤¤¤¤¤
YES: Then sit there and watch it happen.
NO: Then do something about it!

Call, e-mail or write your Senators and representatives NOW: Let them know we want our troops HOME, ALIVE, and available to fight America’s real battles. www.house.gov www.senate.gov

Tell others: America’s corporate media feeds us stale news, trivialities (e.g., the runaway bride), and “red state” v. “blue state” screaming matches. Corporate media avoids the monumentally important stories that reveal the Iraq war for what it truly is—-a brutal military take-over. You must become the media. Tell others what is going on; copy and distribute this flyer; write or call your news outlets when they fail to report on the many disastrous consequences of this war.

Educate yourself: Visit some of the many web-sites that are devoted to investigating and understanding current U.S. foreign policy and America’s alarming march toward more unprovoked wars. Here are just a few:

3. Online sites to place your flyer
Great flyer!!! I think I will send many copies of this to school with my high school age son next time they have a career day and the military is there bribing kids with a turn on their rock climbing wall in exchange for their phone number and address!

You might want to post your flyer on the RRMB (randirhodes) handbill topic that CinDan started. He can make it look pretty and downloadable.

Can you at least tell us the font size used and margins so that we can easily print it out on one sheet of paper? Don't have time right now to fiddle with that.

5. Flyer now posted for downloads...
on ToppleBush.com

Here is the link to the specific page on which the flyer is posted.

http://www.topplebush.com/flyers/antiwar2.pdf

But also, check out the other flyers posted on the site. There are some great ones.

ToppleBush is worth a visit, if you haven't been there. Good articles and commentary, plus some fine merchandise including "liberal" t-shirts.
