LET FOX NEWS KNOW THAT YOU ARE DISGUSTED WITH LONDON COVERAGE
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 01:33 AM by Douglas Carpenter

Just when you thought Fox News couldn't get any lower--Fox News host Brian Kilmeade and Fox News business contributor and substitute host Stuart Varney seemed to be reveling in how the bombing in London "works to our advantage". Gloating in how it puts the "war on terrorism" on the front burner and aid to Africa and global warming on the back burner.

See the Media Matters report and watch the Fox News video at this link:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200507070005

If you thought the coverage of these horrific events couldn't get lower than that--Brit Hume reacted by saying that his first reaction to hearing about the bombings in London was to look at the futures market and say to himself "hmm-time to buy".

Everyone should write in their own words..Here is my own personal E-mail/Letter:

Dear Sir/Madam

I wish to express my total disgust with the comments by Fox News host Brian Kilmeade and Fox News business contributor and substitute host Stuart Varney as they both gloated over how the horrific attacks in London works for the advantage of a particular political agenda.

I didn’t think TV coverage of such terrible events could get lower until I heard Brit Hume tell Shepherd Smith that his first thought upon hearing of the bombing was “time to buy”.

I do hope Fox News apologizes for this obscene insensitivity to human suffering.

I do hope Fox News reflects on what impression they are giving of American values as your programming is beamed around the world

I do hope Fox News remembers that there are children watching.

Sincerely,

1. email to Brit Hume
Dozens killed, hundreds injured,
for Brit Hume, it's "Time to buy".

I think you revealed yourself in a stunningly
lucid way with this offhand statement.

Not that it showed me anything unexpected,
but perhaps it might give you some pause for
self examination, of what you do, who you are,
and what you stand for.

20. email the FCC too... regarding Hate Speech
How to Contact the FCC

To Contact the Commissioners via E-mail

Chairman Kevin J. Martin: KJMWEB@fcc.gov
Commissioner Kathleen Q. Abernathy: Kathleen.Abernathy@fcc.gov
Commissioner Michael J. Copps: Michael.Copps@fcc.gov
Commissioner Jonathan S. Adelstein: Jonathan.Adelstein@fcc.gov

My note to the FCC:

Subject: Hate Speech broadcast - FOX NEWS John Gibson

Gibson's recent comments should be interpreted as HATE SPEECH. It's truly disgusting how he is rejoicing at the idea of an attack on the French people and the death and turmoil that would ensue.

The FCC should fine Fox News for hate speech and officially and publicly apologize, Gibson should be fined and/or fired.

Comments:

Fox's Gibson on "golden opportunity" missed: If France had been selected for 2012 Olympics, terrorists would "blow up Paris, and who cares?"

The day before the July 7 terrorist attacks on London buses and subways, Fox News host John Gibson stated that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) "missed a golden opportunity" because, if France had been selected to host the 2012 Olympics, terrorists would "blow up Paris, and who cares?" Following the London attacks, Gibson reiterated that the IOC ought to have selected Paris instead of London, because the British should "let somebody else be worried about guys with backpack bombs for a while."

From the July 6 broadcast of Westwood One's The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly, guest-hosted by Gibson: "By the way, just wanted to tell you people, we missed -- the International Olympic Committee missed a golden opportunity today. If they had picked France, if they had picked France instead of London to hold the Olympics, it would have been the one time we could look forward to where we didn't worry about terrorism. They'd blow up Paris, and who cares?"

From the "My Word" segment of the July 7 edition of Fox News' The Big Story with John Gibson: "The bombings in London: This is why I thought the Brits should let the French have the Olympics -- let somebody else be worried about guys with backpack bombs for a while."

2. I called Fox, ranked Hume out (politely) (but seriously)
their phone menu is a joke, by the way...you can practically hear the sarcasm. For instance, leaving a comment is the LAST option. The first? Why, it's for becoming a 'Fox Fan'.

4. "Live" video?
I happened to be up early, with the TV on has background noise, and saw the "power surge" story endlessly playing on FOX. How strange to show an hour of nothing, obviously waiting for something.

About an hour later, I saw somebody wheeled on a stretcher. As they rounded a turn, papers flew out of what looked like a backpack. I wondered if someone would pick them up for the poor guy on the stretcher. Then, there was a video of the bus remains, with a guy running across the street in front of it, right to left. Then, a zoomed out view of the bus. Then, an ariel view ...and someone trying to set up a tent next to the one already set up. Then, two black police cars make a left turn in front of the camera and park, one behind the other. Then, there are the people with the solar blankets walking left-to-right in front of the camera.

Then a few police motorcycles, then... there's that poor guy on the stretcher with his papers blowing out of his pack, then the bus and the guy crossing in front of the bus... then the ariel view, then the tent being set up, then the two black police cars, then the solar blankets, then the police motorcycles, then that poor guy on the stretcher looses his papers, again... and the other guy crosses in front of the bus, again. Then those folks are working on putting up the tent, ...etc.

This was "live?" That's what the screen said! ...and ALL DAY LONG! Last I checked (1 hour ago), that poor guy on the stretcher was still losing his papers! However, they have shown a few other clips interspersed.

So, I flipped to CNN ...and there was that guy crossing in front of the bus, the tent being set up... etc. And they, too, said it was live!

HOW CAN THEY BE "FAIR AND BALANCED" IF THEY'RE SHOWING THE SAME VIDEO ON ANOTHER NETWORK?

By the way, do these scenes sound familiar to anyone else?

10. Here is what I sent.
Dear Mr. Hume:

I cannot tell you how shocked I was to hear you say, "My first thought when I heard - just on a personal basis, when I heard there had been this attack and I saw the futures this morning, which were really in the tank, I thought, 'Hmmm, time to buy.'"

I thought I must have heard incorrectly. Aside from being unable to fathom having such a greedy thought, I am astounded you chose to express it publicly. The callousness of your remark is injurous to Americans as you represent us when your comments are made available around the world. Can you imagine the hue and cry if a foreign journalist had made a similar remark on September 11, 2001?

You and Fox News owe everyone an apology for such outrageous insensitivity in the wake of human suffering.

Regards,
Rev.----

13. Called & Emailed
Woo. I called. Ouch. But was transferred to someone that at least listened. That was about it. Then I tried calling the Alan Colmes (XM Radio Channel 167) show, I hung-up after 40+ minutes of listening on the phone and no "welcome to the show."

That network gives me the willies.

14. Just send them to belgium boys
we'll jail them on libel and after pying the fuckers old school make them sit trough every gay wedding there is ....and it's a lot .

But seriously , they are doing more harm in setting the american atmosphere than the admin. if that's possible . It's a good thing they couldn't get a license to broadcast in europe , even if they pimped their sorry asses , or the US image would take a blow .

On the other hand CNN , used to carry the daily show in western europe , which did more for the american image than any state dept. initiative .

The american people are america's greatest asset , and their benevolent interaction with foreigners is the number one reason few people really hate america ...the people at fox are unamerican in that they show naught of that spirit .
