Map of Rove Letter Hits
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 01:48 PM by smartvoter
I thought it would be nice if we could "see" where we were published, so I put together a basic map of our hits. You can see multi-hits and overlaps better if you go here, where they expand and contract:

http://box29.bluehost.com/~samplesp/durovecamp.htm

But to make it simple, here's a still of the map.

On edit: If you were published and don't see a dot in your area, shoot me a PM.

6. Being considerate of one's position is not "being freaky".
When you do not know and individual's situation, you might consider you are mouthing off without some essential facts which are none of the business of many readers who lurk without our best intereste at heart.

7. Whoa. It was just a figure of speech. I didn't even think about it
when I wrote it -- I was pointing out what my experience was. I often use the term "freaky" when people are nervous about things -- including myself. No intent to insult.

8. Thank you for clarification.
Now, about your judgment that one is "nervous" if they are simply pointing out that it is often prudent to be anonymous on a public forum...

9. I know that, and I never asked for a name, paper or anything of the like,
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 04:53 PM by smartvoter
and when you said you live in a small town I suggested naming a big city nearby so there would be absolutely no way someone could figure out who you are short of being a psychic, and you still declined.

To me, this falls on the nervous side of the fence. If this is being judgmental, I apologize. To me, it doesn't mean it's bad, wrong, or anything of the sort. Note that I did not pursue it and that my follow up suggestion that ensured anonymity was a direct attempt to take your position into consideration.

I truly did not mean to offend you in this task. I was simply trying to map out our hits so we could see our successes. Again, I did not pursue it after you said you were also uncomfortable naming a general area.

I don't see how I could have handled this differently short of not using the term "freaky" in that other thread but I was simply explaining that I had one person who was unwilling to participate even vaguely. Nonetheless, I'm sorry for offending you.

GENUINELY sorry.

Can we move on?

14. not me
I think sometimes editors will choose letters that represent a broad range of opinions. As a person in a liberal city, I think my letter would have a better chance of being printed if it were from the RepubliCon POV. I think they are probably getting lots of letters from liberals.

19. I wrote a letter and it was published.
But I know some of us don't want our location outed on DU. So, just consider that when you see the wide blue spaces with no red spots. There probably are writers located there who just don't want their locations outed on DU.

41. It's generic like this because some people don't want their exact
locations and cities and papers identified. A number of these were from people who were willing to give data via PM but did not want details disclosed on the public boards.

This method allows us to see the reach but doesn't disclose anything that some would not want disclosed. It's deliberately stripped down.
