Howbout COMBINING a call to end immiseration with opposition to CAFTA?
There seem to be two issues, each of which garners SOME support among DUAC (Democratic Underground Activist Corps) folk. First, a letter addressed to Live 8/G8 insisting on a POLITICAL organized effort using money from large concerts &c to start it, with a program aimed at ending absolute poverty, AND secondly, a critique of CAFTA and agreements like it -- insisting that if its progenitors really believe such things are really to help the poor and starving, rather than the big corps, why not put their money where their mouths are and actually put THROUGH a program to end absolute poverty (or come close to it) globally, to show that they aren't just using the proverbial poor little aunt Millie in Paducah Wisconsin as a cover for their corporate designs?

The action both combines two factions at DUAC and enriches the issues of both -- by putting the concern to end global poverty front and center with the CAFTA issue, and by linking global poverty and the drive to "globalization", or as I prefer to call it, "McGlobalization".

The important thing is to reference BOTH issues in each letter that is sent out, and to send statements meaningful to the Live 8 people and to Congress considering CAFTA at the same time. And that really is easier than it sounds.

2. whatever the status of the bill, there's plenty at least until both ...
Houses have ironed out their differences in Committee. I assume it is on fast-track (haven't been following it closely) so the process will be quick. But there must be a time hiatus during which it is still politically relevant.
