The people that run the fair have been very generous and helpful to progressive causes. Maybe we can convince the faire managemenr to help collect funds for hurricane relief?

I just called their office and spoke to the receptionist. She's going to have one of the managers call me back.

Anyone have any ideas how they can coordinate this?

I'm not comfortable just collecting a barrel of cash and saying "trust me, it'll go to the Red Cross."

So, does anyone know an "Official Channels" way to do it?

1. give to a local charity - RC will not be giving funds to victims

thye have more than enough for their food stuff - need funds that go directly to the people
Lousiana has a site for donation

2. No RC--give directly to LA...the Gov. has set up a fund

4. I haven't heard back from the faire people yet

In all fairness to the faire people (heh) I have to realize:

1) It's their opening weekend, and they're very busy.
2) It's very short notice.

So, maybe we can organize something for another weekend.

But I'm going to have to fork over $70 admission to get my family in when that $70 would do a lot more good somewhere else.
