Which BART station do I get off at to get to Delores Park .
I'll have my son w/ me for this one so if you want to meet at the

18. That's the last straw...I'll be there.
Originally I was not planning to go because of the violence of the pre-war protests. I truely feel for the people of Iraq and their situation, but now it's personal. Last month the deployment of the National Guard was extended to one year boots in country. My boyfriend, an NG currently in Iraq, will reach the end of his contract next month at which time he will be affected by the stop loss order. I am so sick of this S**T! I sent him an e-mail, not asking how he would feel about my participating in a protest, but asking him to choose the slogan on the sign I would carry.

I will see you at the playground.

21. I watched from afar...
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 12:21 PM by jcc
As protesters blocked the freeways. People broke windows and caused other damage to government building for which the repair comes out of public programs.

I'm kind of old school. Only little children, who deserve to be ignored, break things to get attention.

Hundreds of thousands of people of all ages, cultures and political persuasions marched in SF pre-war rally. It was by far peaceful. As when in any crowd, use common sense, keep your eyes open, be safe and enjoy!

24. There are two or three groups
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 04:22 PM by jcc
that have stepped over the line on a consistant basis. They ruin the event and the meaning because the papers and the TV stations cover their violent acts instead of the meaning of the protest. Maybe it's just because I'm in marketing, but when those who are on the fence see on television even one person stepping out of line and throwing something heavy through a window at a federal building, we have lost our case. I was one of those people who felt sickened by the violent ignorance that was covered in the papers. I will come armed with a sign and ready to walk away at a moments notice if things go awry. Protests need to be squeeky clean. Even one small blurb of violence on a front page covered with possitive coverage can destroy the whole point.

28. That's the media bias
The only way to know what truly goes on is to attend ..

You'll be surprised , that they are nothing like what
the T.V. chooses to show ..

34. That may be so...
but even a little violence should never have happened. Marketing is so important to swaying the minds of the ignorant masses. It scared the hell out of me because I saw it first person. The behavior of those mobing the freeway was disrespectfull to everyone who worked or went to school in the city and there were hundreds doing that, not just a handfull. Anyways, it's not important. If anyone starts breaking s**t, I'll lash them to a streetlamp with my yellow ribbons. Public humiliation is always the best remedy.

27. This one , has a permit ..Won't be violent
There may be splinter groups that go do stuff away
from the march ...but as long as you stay with the
families and large crowd you should be okay ..

It's a truly healing experience being with so
many who believe what you do about this whole
Iraq occupation ...

31. Meeting times, places?
I want to meet up with DUers for the pre-march rally and then at the Civic Center (my decrepitude makes the march not good for me).

What's the plan?

32. don't know...
I know we have our usual after march meeting place, but I haven't coordinated with anyone on where we should meet at Dolores Park. The 16th & Mission BART is the most obvious landmark, but that's three or four blocks off from the park.

SE corner of the park maybe? Toward the top of the hill?

33. Dolores Park...
is a weee bit further than three to four blocks, dude! And uphill, to boot. Whatcha tryin' to do, kill me?? :)

Why not meet at the park bathrooms, where they have the landscape maintenance shed. Centrally located, easy to spot.

Good idea? Bad idea?

the 16th and Mission play ground thingy at 11:30 in earlier posts I think. I was just going to show up there and shout if anyone was from DU.

It has been so long since I have spent any amount of time in the city, so I have no idea where I'm going. I will be dressed in all black with black boots and a BDU hat, spotted with yellow ribbons. I'm a 5'9" female with blonde hair. If you see me walking around looking really lost, please say hi.
