I'm considering organizing a nurse-in. |
|
A local restaurant manager gave a breastfeeding mother a hard time the other day, insisting she take her baby to the bathrooom to nurse her. The mother was deeply offended but surprised and told him to go eat his meals in the bathroom! Great response! They were at a family restaurant in a separate room with a children's party going on. The manager said he didn't want the other kids to see it! She finally just ignored him, but felt irritated enough to talk about it.
I'm considering writing an informative letter to the local news paper, or actually staging a nurse-in. It is against the law in Texas to interfere with a mother breastfeeding her baby in any place where either has the right to be.
I think I'd rather go with the low key approach: the informative letter to the paper, not naming the restaurant, etc. What do you think?

My GOD! This is so stupid. I breastfed everywhere, was discreet but no one ever bothered me about it. I would LOVE to see a restaurant full of mothers breastfeeding, it would be such fun to watch that guy melt down.

or any other type of protest action you can organize to point out the prudery of a certain segment of our population. Breasts are not sexual organs anymore than toes or armpits. It really reminds me of the Victorian age when the sight of a woman's legs was scandalous. You've hit a point with me on this one. Keep us updated.
