Seattle DUers, going to the March to Miami demonstration Saturday 9/27?
I just heard about it.

It's against Bush's intention to expand NAFTA

<snip>
The U.S. government's free trade policy has been a disaster here at home and for the majority of peoples in other countries. Since 1994, three million U.S. manufacturing jobs have been lost, regulation of toxic chemicals like MTBE is being undermined, and the authority of state and local governments is being challenged in secret trade courts. This assault on workers, the environment and our public sector must end.

The Bush Administration, however, is trying to expand this free trade disaster. They want to expand NAFTA into all of Latin America and the Caribbean. This proposed trade agreement is called the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). The FTAA will open the door for foreign corporations to force the privatization of our country's public sector, as well as attacking prevailing wage laws and project labor agreements in the construction industry. Trade ministers from the 34 countries of the FTAA will meet in Miami, November 20-21, 2003 to negotiate this agreement. We join people from throughout the Western Hemisphere and say, "No" to the FTAA!

</snip>

There is a rally at the Labor Temple on 1st Avenue in Belltown at 10 am and a rally at Pier 62/63 at 11 am.
(That must be about a five minute walk).

The schedule has the temple at 2800 First Avenue South, but the "South" is incorrect.

I wish this were getting more coverage. Anyone seen anything about it in newspapers or anywhere else?
