VoterVirgin Sell Nothing Day |
|
VoterVirgin will be participating in Buy Nothing Day by selling nothing on November 28. Though it would make me very happy to sell some of our incredibly cute stuff, especially when you are hanging out with friends and family, I think more businesses should take a day off from the retail rat race and embrace the greater values of life outside of consumerism. In case you don't know, VoterVirgin is a great way to entice those friends and family that don't vote to participate in our democracy. Totally family friendly and non partisan, you can dub the apathetic hold out in your enclave a VoterVirgin. It could be the first smile over a political holiday conversation you get ever. Love them into voting.
Peace, Teresa www.votervirgin.com

I like your website, although I don't really think it's non-partisan because most Repugs vote already and prolly wouldn't like your trying to get non-voters to vote!
Welcome to DU from another Texan! :hi:

2. Ah, therein lies the rub |

Funny thing, the conservatives are not knocking on my door trying to register voters..... Guess they prefer to recruit within the circle so to speak. I have designed VoterVirgin to be 100% non partisan, unlike my personal politics, and gone to great lengths to be sure it is NOT issue oriented. My clients already have issues they are passionate about and are doing a fine job of educating voters. People who want to register new voters tend to be left of neo con, that is true. VoterVirgin is based on the idea that most people won't register if they are turned off by "preaching". O'Reilly might call it a "preach-free zone". Most people consider it a fun way to stimulate democracy. VoterVirgin gives the average citizen a way to say "I just want you to vote" or even better " Yes, I am committed to vote in 2004". The rest I leave in the hands of the millions of fine citizens educating about the issues. Think of this tool as the Switzerland of GOTV 2004.
