Floridians - a REAL Impeach Jeb movement is afoot. Can you help?
Here's what I just received from the West Pasco Democratic Club. Please help out if you can.
Carol

Dear Fellow Democrats:

Four weeks ago, I sent an email to ALL of the statewide Democratic Clubs requesting their help & support with the Impeachment of Gov. Jeb Bush. We would now like to give you an update as to how we are progressing. So far, we have heard from just a handful of clubs. We are grateful for their help & support & we are happy to have them on board.

As we rapidly approach the General Election Cycle of 2004, we do realize most clubs will be focusing on that only & naturally it's understandable. However, this Impeachment effort CAN also be accomplished & run parallel to it with very little or no distraction for our Democratic Candidates & it could possibly help their efforts as well.

Just recently, on Oct. 17, 2003, Jeb sent an email to ALL of his Republican Constituents requesting they NOT get involved with any GOP efforts for the 2006 Gov. race until after next year. He also stated in the email, they all need to focus on "DOING WHAT EVER IT TAKES" to make sure the "BUSH - CHENEY TICKET IS REELECTED" in Nov. 04! More PROOF POSITIVE, Jeb IS going to steal another election! His email was printed in the Miami Herald on Sat. Oct. 18, 2003. His most recent statement should be enough to motivate ANY Democrat who is still doubtful about this Impeachment effort. Don't forget; Jeb has already come out publicly on Oct. 1 at a press conference in Tampa in which he then stated he "...will deliver Florida once again to my brother" in Nov 04.

His recent intervention in the Terri Schivo case is more proof positive of his total disregard for the laws of the land. Not to mention, his involvement is ANOTHER direct violation of the FL. Constitution; the "Separation Of Powers" the "Guarantee Of Equal Protection" & the "Right To Privacy" clauses. He has ALREADY lost his side of the law suit & the Courts are ruling in favor of Terri's husband, Michael.

We WILL be facing ANOTHER repeat of what happened in 2000. Only this time, it is going to happen via the ALREADY pre-programmed Computer Voting Terminals! We were all once again duped & caught off guard last Nov. with the Gov race. We now strongly believe these terminals were pre programmed for a Jeb Bush victory! ALL of these terminals DO NOT provide a paper receipt for verification or a paper trail which IS vital in the event a recount is necessary! It has now become A KNOWN FACT ALL of the terminals can be pre programmed for a Republican win & are MORE THEN CAPABLE of providing approximately a 60/40 split.

Whether or not you choose to believe it, this IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER & he cannot be permitted to continue with his reckless disregard for the citizens & voters rights of our state. Keep in mind, his actions here also effects the rest of the country! We MUST NOT permit him to once again violate the FL. Constitution. As I stated in my last email of four weeks ago, Jeb has violated Article 2, Section 8, Paragraph "G" & HE'S GOING TO DO IT AGAIN!

We have decided the most effective way to proceed, is for ALL of us to file a formal complaint with the State Of Florida Commission On Ethics in Tallahassee. Being as though Jeb's direct violations to the FL Constitution are in FACT Code Of Ethics violations, by written law, he CAN be Impeached.

We have already downloaded & printed the official complaint form from the Commission On Ethics official web site. The form is very easy to complete & we will provide the official mailing address & phone # for Jeb Bu$h as it will save all of you a lot of time, as we have already done the research for you. It will take you less then 5 minutes to complete the form & it MUST be signed in the presence of a notary public. MOST banks provide this service free, if you are one of their customers. If they don't, the cost is minimal. Then mail it to
Tallahassee. Their address is printed on the top of the form.

If you will provide us with your mailing address, we will be happy to mail some complaint forms to you. You may then print as many copies as you wish for other club members, family, friends or, anyone else who wishes to participate in this endeavor.

Even if only one complaint is received by the Commission, by law, they MUST fully investigate. If we flood their office with MANY complaints on the same issue (Jeb) they will have NO choice but to proceed with Impeachment. This is NOT like it was in CA last month. This IS a bonafide complaint as, Jeb Bu$h HAS broken the laws of the state of FL.

Again, thanks for your help & please contact us ASAP as, time IS quickly running out!

3. This is beyond misguided...sorry
Save your time and energy. The only way Jeb could ever be impeached is if a major scandal erupted that received national attention, which in turn would saturate Florida papers, which in turn would turn popular opinion against him.

We'd do much better to start a recall, but only if there was a major source of funding available (like in CA)

The West Pasco Dem Club has way too much time on its hands.

4. There is no recall law for governor in Florida
but I agree that this is not a good idea either. If you read the fine print at the Florida Ethics Commission web site, you have to submit a sworn statement and can be held liable for lawyer fees if your allegations are found to be false (and yes I know Jeb has done all sorts of unethical things, but I am sure he has also stacked the ethics committee in his favor).

<snip>

When the Commission determines that a person has filed a complaint with knowledge that the complaint contains one or more false allegations or with reckless disregard for whether the complaint contains false allegations, the complainant will be liable for costs plus reasonable attorney's fees incurred by the person complained against. The Department of Legal Affairs may bring a civil action to recover such fees and costs, if they are not paid willingly.

5. But there are referendum laws.
I believe you can put anything on a ballot by getting signatures of 10% of the elegible voters in the last election. That's why everything in Florida is being done by referendum, instead of by legislation.

7. Yes, but this does not include recalling a sitting governor
It has to be a law or a constitutional amendment. Now if you want to have a referendum on establishing a recall provision for governor, I guess you could, but I doubt if you could make it retroactive to the last election. I am not too keen on recalling elected officials anyway and thought the CA recall was a travesty.

6. It is one thing to be concerned about election fraud in 2004, and
it is one thing to be concerned about election fraud in 2004, and another thing to have proof.

Jeb Bush sending out an email asking people to be "doing whatever it takes" to get George W. re-elected isn't proof.

Focus on getting HR 2239 passed.

9. I think they are using the Shaivo thing which was un-Constitutional
...they are just using the election fraud thing to explain why this is urgent.
