MINNEAPOLIS - Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, will make two campaign appearances in the Twin Cities Monday.

The vice president will speak at a Bush-Cheney luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Minneapolis, a campaign spokesman said. After his speech, the Cheneys are scheduled to visit El Burrito Mercado on St. Paul's West Side at 1:30 p.m.

the hilton will probably be a fortress; but you have to wonder why they announced he would go to El Mercado. It's right out there on the street, if it's the place I'm thinking of.
cheney's handlers should have made this one of those clever "impromptu" visits to a place were real people work.



I am at this moment recalling a visit to Rochester in 1972 by Spiro Agnew, the soon-to-be vice president of Nolo Contendere, at which he tried to make a speech on the tarmac at the airport there but was shouted down by a crowd chanting "Fuck You, Agnew!"
