DO SOMETHING about it:
Throughout his term, the Bush Administration has repeatedly
talked pro-environment in front of the American public, but
his actions have attacked environmental interests. In the
last four years he has support significant rollbacks to key
environmental protections, and placed the interests of his
polluting-industry cronies ahead of the public's interest in clean air and clean water.
As we move closer to Election Day 2004, here are some
environmental reasons we're not voting for President Bush
in 2004.
* Bush supports the importation and sale of some of the
most endangered species in the world.
* Bush has threatened our historic Clean Water Act by
telling the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers staff to stop
enforcing Clean Water Act protections for many of the
nation's wetlands, ponds, and streams.
* Bush dropped out of the Kyoto treaty, and then failed
to offer alternative solutions that address and attempt to
slow global warming, despite ominous warnings from
scientists around the world, and even the Pentagon.
* Bush received the first ever failing grade on the
League of Conservation Voters' Presidential Report Card
for his abysmal environmental record.
* Kerry has fought to protect our environment and our health. His exceptional lifetime score of 92% on the
League of Conservation Voters National Environmental
Scorecard demonstrates his unsurpassed leadership on
clean air, safe drinking water and a healthy environment.

2. DO YOU WANT DRUGS IN YOUR CORNFLAKES?
http://www.care2.com/go/z/12846 A new report by the Union of Concerned Scientists
revealed widespread contamination of crops of corn,
soybean, and canola seeds by DNA from commercial
genetically engineered crops.
These findings suggest that current federal regulations are
inadequate to protect our seed supply from the next
generation of GE crops that are engineered to produce
drugs and industrial chemicals. That means that eventually
your cornflakes could be laced with DNA from crops that are
engineered to produce commercial drugs.
Sign this petition to protect our nation's seed supply!
Urge the U.S. Department of Agriculture to amend federal
regulations to explicitly protect the seed supply from
contamination by engineered pharmaceutical and
industrial crops.

3. FORGIVE ME, PADRE, FOR I HAVE DRILLED
http://www.care2.com/go/z/12848 Drilling on North Padre Island in Texas Could Mess With Sea
Turtles
Padre Island National Seashore, off the southeastern coast
of Texas, is the longest undeveloped stretch of barrier island in the world and home to more than a dozen threatened and endangered species, including the Kemp's ridley sea turtle.
Unfortunately for those critters, the seashore sits atop oil and gas deposits whose rights are controlled by private
companies and the state of Texas. Soon, a phalanx of
industry vehicles could be grinding across the beach in search of fossil fuels, and activists have very little leverage to stop them.
