Here's How You Can Help To Support Our Troops
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 04:11 PM by The Democratic Kid
Check this out, http://www.heromiles.org and www.anysoldier.us These 2 links will show you what you can do to help. Now the question is are you ready and willing to help by doing? or are YOU going to just say you support our troops and just sit there waving the flag in front of the TV? Please pray for peace and fight like hell for health care reform and your rights. Call your elected puppets and tell them how you feel. Tell them to stop wasting our money. Tell them to give our troops what ever they need to finish their job and come home and tell them to make health care better and more affordable in our country. Take care. The Democratic Kid...

1. We're way ahead of you, Kid
DU has its own troops in Iraq. Although some of them have come home now, so we'll have to find some new ones.

This isn't the place where you find a lot of meaningless flag-waving going on. You have the right idea, though. :hi:

5. Hell Yeah
We all support the Troops. We are the ones trying to bring them home. That's being supportive right there.

6. I'd have to look through the archives
A couple of us have relatives/friends in Iraq. We've been sending packages for some time. It wouldn't be too productive to look up old threads. Stick around. Something's bound to come up.

8. sorry, off-topic - postal mailing lists?
hello, new person here and i'm not allowed to start a new thread.

bush is visiting ireland in june or july. he's going to use ireland as a backdrop for his campaign videos and obviously folks here in ireland are not all that happy about it. there is no way we'll be getting close enough to any of the events for him to notice protests, nevermind spoil the backdrop for the videos.

so as an american living here, i'd like to offer people an alternative way to protest. i'd like to print flyers with some suggested talking points, some pointers on tone, and some addresses of voters in the us. that way people over here in ireland can send postcards to americans telling them how they feel about being used as campaign props. if bush won't see us, maybe voters in america will.

however i have no idea where to get a mailing list to grab addresses from. google has been kind of useless. the closest i found was a cdrom with addresses from 1999. can anyone suggest where to look?

9. Depends who you want to contact.
And where.

You probably would do well to contact local county Republican or Democratic clubs. The county chairman or precinct chairs often have lists of the voters in that area.

Contact Dems to reach sympathetic voters who can spread the word about cool international folks who wrote them from abroad. Contact Republicans to try to reach those who are beginning to feel mildly disenchanted by the Chump. Your reception might not be as warm though.

Just do some google searches for the words "County," "Democrats" and maybe a state name. I'm sure something will come up. Use common names like Washington, Lincoln, Columbia, etc. You'll probably get some decent information. Good luck!
