Garage Sales for Democracy
I know that a lot of us have gone to fundraising house parties this election season and MoveOn's Bake Back the White House a couple of weeks ago was a big success. Here's another idea, garage sales (what my yankee relatives call "tag sales").

Here's an email I got from the Morris Meyer campaign. He is running against Smokey Joe Barton up in the Ft Worth area. I think it's an excellent idea that just about anyone could use to both help out our cause as well as unloading some of our personal junk.

Greetings all!

The time has come for each of us to put our money where our mouth is, or garage is anyway... The camp is organizing the first SPRING CLEANING FOR MEYER GARAGE SALE on May 15th. We are asking that each of you roll up your garage doors and host a sale in your neighborhood that day with the proceeds to become contributions to the campaign. Several volunteers have already agreed to host on the 14th as well...imagine, with just one sale in each precinct across the district netting just $250, we can raise a whopping $100,000.00 in just one weekend! If you add on a bake sale to each of those, the sky is the limit!

This is one of those times where just one person can make a difference--most people that do not have dollars to spare but certainly have furniture, housewares, or electronics taking up space after they have already upgraded to bigger and better--these are the things that we can turn into cash immediately for campaign costs so that we can continue to raise money through out the summer. I encourage you to reach out to like-minded friends and family that may never have contributed to a campaign before, this is our chance to begin taking back Texas for all of America!

Everyone knows the importance of recycling, reducing, and reusing to help the planet...now is the opportunity to help the planet with a candidate that wants to do the same! If you are unable to host but can transport items, please call me immediately and I will offer storage space for everything you can get here until the day of the sale. I would like to have all contributions in for our sale by the 10th so that we have time to inventory, tag and label all the items.

As added incentive, Morris will be visiting the largest garage sale that morning!

Take the opportunity to organize in your area and lets start the process of taking back our district, our counties, our state, and our country! Thank you in advance for all of your work and time.

1. Great Idea!
I'd love to hold a sale out in our neighborhood (85% Repug)!

How fun would it be to surreptitiously use the funds raised from Repugs to finance the opposition without them even realizing it!
