NY Times Must Go Further in Questioning Bush Abuse of Power and Lies
The DeanRR group demands more: 1) Misleading Congress and the American people is acceptable under whose authority? The Bush administration's? Is it okay if not technically against the law? Do we require our President, his staff and cabinet to be under oath in order to hold them to truth-telling standards? | 2) Did the same lawyers that said Bush had the right to ignore the Geneva Conventions and order torture decide lying to Congress and Americans was OK? We need outside counsel to look at this. We can't trust the Ashcroft Justice Department to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." | 3) False estimates provided to Congress (and Americans), like torture memos, are protected by executive privilege? Is there anything the Bush administration won't claim is privileged?
