Why do people keep saying Dean is struggling in South Carolina
Just the other day, in a NY Times piece they mentioned that he was behind in a crowded top tier in SC but he clearly is very much ahead there now. He will sweep each and every primary. It's hard to even take the other candidates seriously at this point. They are all engaged in face saving of one kind or another.

1. Hi, DJ
I love Dean, too. But I think we need to exercise some caution and consideration of supporters of other candidates here.

:hi:

2. Wow -- If Dean Wins Iowa and South Carolina,
It's all over. NH being pretty much in the bag.

I'm pleasantly surprised Dean is doing so well in such a core part of the South. It suggests he will appeal to some non-Democrats as well. It's not necessary for the Democratic candidate to win any core Southern states, but getting a certain number of independents and crossovers could swing the election in border states like Florida, Arkansas, and West Virginia.

5. I know that here in Northern Virginia
Dean has been a presence and is running a really good campaign. I suspect that the reason this is so is because so many got energized on the campaign so early. Most of the Democrats simply "give up" on Virginia because it is a red state. But Dean's treasurer was a Lt. Governor and local businessman here and he's also gotten endorsement from a local Congressman.

I'm sure Dean isn't expected to take Virginia in November but I'm assured he will take the state for the Democrats, and it's nice to see importance placed on the politics of Northern Virginia, rather than Southern Virginia, for a change.

4. Its conventional wisdom, the whore pundits have to say it
Don't you know? Dean is going down to a McGovern type defeat! Even it he does win, the whores will claim the results are upside down.
