Here's the link:

U.S. Rep. Chris John of Crowley is forming an exploratory committee as a first step in a likely campaign for the Senate seat being vacated by three-term veteran John Breaux.

2. Johns = conservative; don't expect me to hop on bandwagon
Has a 51 lifetime rating from the ACU- worse than some Republicans. Louisiana has a large black population that elects better Democrats than that- from Blanco to Landrieu. Landrieu has a 17 ACU rating. Much, much better. I'm not into winning pyrrhic victories.

5. How is Blanco better?
She is very conservative on basically every issue from abortion to taxes. Landrieu may be somewhat more liberal but she certainly hasn't helped much on major bills like the prescription drugs bill. And being a woman certainly helps her on the abortion issue.

Chris John's rating is worse than very few republicans and those republicans aren't from Louisiana. Those are republicans from liberal states in the northeast and a few other places.

I think that Chris John is our best candidate against David Vitter and I'm not so sure that the other potential democrats are any more liberat anyway. I don't know what their ratings are because they don't have them.

3. John is slightly more conservative than Breux
both are ardent middle of the roaders. I think he will be a natural successor to the most popular politician in Louisiana, that is if he can survive the primary.

4. Voted against choice, for elitist estate tax cut, and for...
...giving Bush unilateral trade promotion authority (passed by only 1 vote- if John voted the other way, we could have stopped it). So basically he opposed women's reproductive rights, gave the wealthiest few a whopper of a tax cut (even for favoring the rich than the income tax cut), and let corporations ship jobs overseas. Sorry, I'm not excited about John. His voting record is horrible.
