WI Senate: Ed Thompson (L) endorses Feingold!
<snip>

Ed Thompson, the 2002 Libertarian candidate for governor and brother of former governor and Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson (R), has thrown his support to Sen. Russ Feingold (D), according to the Madison Capital Times.

<snip>

That endorsement is nothing to sneeze at when one considers that beyond his familial tie to the popular ex-governor, Ed Thompson garnered 11 percent of the vote in his own race to become the big cheese of Wisconsin.

Yet another reason why IMHO Feingold is safe for re-election.

1. I know that the last election for him was close
I heard that this one could be close as well.

We can't afford to lose someone like Feingold in the Senate.

4. Feingold's opponent is pretty weak this time

IMHO, Feingold doesn't have too much to worry about. He will have to campaign, but it's nowhere near as worrisome as 1998.

EDIT: spelling

3. Cool!
I got a call from Senator Mark Dayton's campaign in Minnesota the other night and this nice guy said the bush league was going to spend around $30 Million Bucks to try and oust him in 2004!

Mark Dayton was against the IWR...this campaigner said! :kick:

6. Courage on the PATRIOT act stand paying off?
Or is there an other reason for this?

7. Yep
“I am going to vote for Russ Feingold,” he told the paper. “He stood up to the Patriot Act,” he said, adding he was “disappointed” that Feingold’s Republican opponents are trying to make political hay of his vote against the act.

8. LOL! Good Ol' Weird Ed!
I always liked him better than his brother.

Most of the Republican leaders in WI (that aren't currently in jail or under indictment) come from the south and east of the state, where some pretty conservative Republican suburbs are. And none of them are particularly impressive.

Tommy was different, coming from Elroy, and had his own machine behind him (which he must have taken with him to Washington, since his successor lost big time to Doyle (D) ).
