The money is still on Dean - by a wide margin

A piece on Crossfire just now was about the ' THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA'S POLITICAL FUTURES MARKET ' where investors can bet on the elections.

Above it the latest graph. Dean, although slipping a bit, is still the runaway favorite among people willing to "put money where they mouths are" :-)

2. Interesting though
there are many ways to put your money where your mouth is. I'm in pretty poor financial shape yet I've scrapped together nearly $1,000 for the Clark campaign. I think investing in a new President offers a better return on investment ultimately than playing a market.

That said. There is no doubt that Dean is the odds on favorite at this point and he's earned it.

I admire your support ! My donations to Dean have been only about $300 - 400.

4. Thanks, Hoppin.
I'm sure that I'm not alone. Many Clark and Dean supporters are forking over the $$$ and I suspect that many of us have to count are pennies as well. It's one good thing to see in this primary campaign. People are giving a shit! That's good news no matter who is the ultimate nominee.

Peace.

6. Tony and I have contributed heavily.
We've cut back on most luxuries and I have personally maxed out on my contributions to Dean; we've jointly set up an 'orphan candidate' fund where we can donate to other Democrat campaigns, particularly those that aren't faring too well financially.

We're young (24 and almost 21), and our future is more important than a few nick nacks and fancy doo-dads or toys we might like to have; once we have a Democrat in the White House, we're betting that sane fiscal and trade policies will return our investment many times over.

:)

You might consider another way to donate. I think your orphan fund is great, so I'm only suggesting you look at the MoveOn fund. They are trying to raise enough money to put the winning Bush in 30 Seconds video on the air during the Super Bowl. A political ad has never run during the Super Bowl. IMHO, this is a worthwhile place for your hard-earned dollars.

I commend you for maxing out, and continuing the fight against Bush.

Peace to you,
R~

12. It probably also includes
'possible runners' or 'others' such as Hillary Clinton, explaining the high number in September (or so), when the talk of her running was rampant.
