More IA endorsement for Edwards (including Fed "the Mayor" Hoiberg)
With momentum growing across the state every day, Senator Edwards has received a wave of new endorsements in Iowa this week, including state Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald - one of only three statewide elected officials in the state to endorse a candidate.

Other prominent endorsements to come on board this week include former Iowa State University basketball standout and Minnesota Timberwolve Fred "The Mayor" Hoiberg and Linn County Democratic Party Chair Joel Miller.

1. Could Edwards upset?
By upset I mean come in a shocking 2nd? That could be huge for his campaign I think. It might hurt Clark in NH, but I doubt it. Clark-Edwards is the most dominant tagteam ever.

2. I think 4th is going to be a victory for Edwards. 3rd would be a triumph.

I just don't see anyone other than Dean and Gep occupying spots one and two. It's got to be a lock for them.

Dean has no spending limits, and for Gephardt, Iowa is his spiritual, socio-economic, cultural and geographic backyard.

3. I have bad feelings about Gephardt
There seems to be no excitment behind his campaign. I hope Kerry doesn't pass him.

10. Kerry will get at least 2nd
I sense Gephardt is losing steam, and he has got a lot of people who don't want Dean- they will go to Kerry and Edwards.

9. What I love about endorsements...
is I get to discover great local politicians I've never heard of before.

Good job, Edwards.

14. I would guess most Iowans are familiar with one of only three
statewide elected officials.

And I suspect most Iowans know who the Mayor is.%

I personally hadn't heard of the guy but got to know about him now. That is what is fun about this.

17. If we had a real press, Kerry and Edwards would be on top already.
Edited on Wed Jan-14-04 11:04 PM by blm
And I have no doubt that Kucinich would be 3rd or 4th, by now.

Clark would not have entered the race, because the party would be satisfied that Dems had a great nominee.

19. The press will reap what they sow. What they are sowing is the notion
that Dean has insurmountable lead. What they will reap is a good Democrat coming out of the primaries who will look like a giant killer (when we all knew that Dean wasn't that great of a candidate in the first place).

Democrats will have a roped the media dope.

"My karate is stronger than yours."

It may be the first genius move of the campaign.
