Dean on Clark: "I truly believe he is a Republican"
Well, I truly believe Howard Dean is an arrogant, unprincipled lying bastard.

Here's the excerpt from the Washington Post

Clark Rebuts Rivals' Attacks as 'Old-Style Politics'
By William Branigin, Dan Balz and Ceci Connolly
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, January 14, 2004; 3:10 PM

Democratic presidential candidate Wesley K. Clark today dismissed as "old-style politics" his rivals' accusations that he has been inconsistent on the war in Iraq, and he charged that the Bush administration has not been "serious about going after terrorism."

. . .

Dean made a campaign stop in New Hampshire today before a scheduled flight to Iowa to resume campaigning there for Monday's caucuses. Before leaving New Hampshire, Dean called Clark a Republican masquerading as a Democrat.

"I think Gen. Clark is a good guy, but I truly believe he's a Republican," the Associated Press quoted Dean as saying.

2. I like Dean less and less every day.
IF he gets the nom, I'll vote for him, but not very enthusiastically.

P.S. I think his wife is a liability.

16. Everything 'plays' in a campaign.
Imagine * dragging stepford Laura out for all to see and Dean is all by his lonesome. Doesn't ring true for a lot of folks. NOT ME, BTW. I could care less about spouses, but I'm far to the left of center.

3. I hope Dean keeps using this line of attack on Clark
NH voters are pretty savvy and pretty independent. Given his past votes for Clinton/Clinton/Gore and his position on the issues it isn't going to sell outside a limited highly partisan crowd. It just doesn't pass the "sniff test".

Also, I bet quite a few of those independent minded voters heading to the democratic primary polls in NH also voted Reagan and Bush I so it's slamming them as well.

In summary, this attack will add more votes for Clark than it will drain in NH and probably elsewhere.

18. It doesn't bother me either. Let them all attack Clark and call him..
a repuke. That's old news. It may have concerned voters initially. But apparently many voters are just as unimpressed with Democrats as Dean says he is. So, what's the diff?

13. And Dean was going to make him his VP!!
Seriously, what does this say about Dean? Here he is, running as a combative, take-no-prisoners Democrat, and he offers his VP slot to a Republican? Go figure.

Are we really going to have a replay of 1968, when the Democrats self-destructed by attacking each other to shreds?

I dont think I can watch if this is to be the case.

Dean truly believes that Bush in his soul is a moderate.
Of course, Dean is so right wing at his core that he would see Bush as a moderate.

I can't believe ANYONE really believes Dean's Elmer Gantry act.

But he must have been banned. I never liked Dean's looks from the very start. He just looked shifty to me. My initial response has been vindicated. If that man becomes the nominee a lot of democratic voters will stay home.

22. Newsflash Dean
With all the talk about how Dean has all the money and Clark is going to go broke soon, I for one thank Dean for this bit of free campaigning. Barring it's obvious "in bad taste" approach, let's say someone actually believes this worn out slam...

Newsflash: Ya can't win with 33% of the votes! If we lose a few hard-core libs along the way, but pick up some indie and RINO votes, all the better.

Thank ya kindly, Dean.

Edited on Wed Jan-14-04 08:14 PM by Bucky
What a jerk. Maybe Kerry can remind Dean that you don't say stupid desperate negative stuff until you're dropping in the polls. Part of me doesn't even want to believe this quote is real. If this quote does turn out to be legit, Dean's dropped down to a hair north of Lieberman on my support list.

ABB, as always. But what a prick.

a desperate man.
I saw him yelling at some old man the other day because he wouldn't let Dean make his point after the old guy asked him a question.

Dear Mr. Dean,

We have heard you have taken to calling Wes Clark a Republican. Please continue to do so - it heartens us to no end to watch you practice the politics you supposedly abhor.

Also, please keep your entire campaign staff intact, if these wonderful souls were responsible for this line of attack. Their politcal acumen is top shelf!

Sincerely,

The millions of others who will now vote for Clark thanks to you

P.S. If you keep this line of attack going, may we suggest that you learn General Clark's new name? That would be President-Elect.
