Dean is firing them up in Iowa |
|
I am watching Dean in Des Moines right now and that crowd is ENERGIZED! I'm glad that he went home yesterday, I think he needed to be with his family and needed some rest.
With all the negative press lately I was kind of worried but man Dean supporters are by far the most dedicated. I think that we are going to kill in Iowa on Monday. I can't wait for the Daily Show coverage, Steven Colbert is there so I'm assuming that they will have a segment coming up soon.
Watching him speak just reminded me why I like him to begin with. I remember last year at about this time when absolutely no one was speaking out against the administration, and I may have heard a little rumbling about some guy from Vermont running for president. If you had told me then that he would be the front runner a year later I probably would not have believed you.
All of the things we bitch about here on DU, he wants to fix. He is the only candidate that has said he will break up the media whores. Everyone here is entitled to their opinion but I remind you to think of a year ago when no one was saying a word about Bush. Dean spoke out when Bu$h was at 70% approval rating. That IS the main reason why I like Dean. Can you imagine this race if Dean had not spoken out last year? Yes, I like his record. Yes, I realize both the good and the bad about him.
Yeah, he has an unphotogenic smile Yeah, the man is a tight wad to the nth degree Yeah, he has wobbled a bit with a few issues Yeah, sometimes he even might be a jerk
But, he doesn't say he is going to do something without doing it. Zephyr said as much when she came here. That in working with him for the last few years, HE ALWAYS DOES WHAT HE SAYS HE WILL. He actually does care about the plight of the working man. He inspires people in a way that I have never seen. You may call us koolaid drinkers and what not but our hearts are in the right place and we want to make this world a better place for everyone.
Nothing is going going stop this train. Iowa Dean supporters are out with a vengence and Dean is going to win.

1. I know I have liked him more the more I learn about his record in |
|
Vermont. Yeah he might not do everything I would like but he at least DOES do what he says he will.

3. I haven't seen it yet. |

The closest I've seen is one where Dean is leading with 24%, Kerry and Geppy tied for second with 21%.

4. No way Dean's rally had like 5 times the people than Geppy's |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-14-04 09:24 PM by Melodybe
And these people were fired up. Geppy's rally is snooze ville. Turn it on C-span and see the difference. The press is trying to stop Dean in Iowa, but it not going to happen. They know that this is their chance to kill him and they are sorely mistaken.

5. I got to go mail my last set of letters |
|
to Dems in Iowa. this will make 40 letters over the last week that I"ve sent out.
I think Dean is incredibly inspiring, and from what I see of the Clark people, so is their guy.
And I guess all the candidates are pretty inspiring to the folks who like them. I just hope we can all spend out effort proping our guys (or gal) and not tearing down each other.
Cause come next November, we are all going to be in this togehter.

It had Dean and Gephardt tied with Kerry within margin of error. Edwards was only 6% behind.
Edwards has focused on rural areas, not just the cities, which may help him on caucus night.

8. Regarding the clueless media... |
|
I got a chuckle from this:
"Dean Goes on Offensive in Iowa"--Washington Post, Jan. 13
"Surges by Rivals Put Dean on the Defensive in Iowa"--New York Times, Jan. 13
Our guy can play offense & defense at the same time. :)

10. In person Dean is very likable. |
|
At least I thought so each of the three times I saw him in person. He doesn't have quite so powerful a presence as to call it charisma, but he's genuine and pays close attention to each and every person in the room.
Not all politicians come across this way in public.

Go Dean! Yes he is not perfect, but he is gathering a momentum for needed change like no other. The repukes are only beginning to take his campaign seriously. I hope there will be no more mysterious pre-election plane crashes or Sirhan Sirhan revisited. I will hit the streets if there is!

14. Dean Has a Loyal But Very Limited 20 Something Percent |
|
Dean does get enthusiastic crowds, but he is stuck in the 20 percent range in Iowa. That will not win it for him. Go Kerry!

15. You're wrong maybe here at DU |
|
but former republicans like Dean the most. We have a stong group here in MS and let me tell you people don't get more conservative than MS. Really, they write songs about us. Dean is very strong here. I was talking to one of my old high school teachers (he taught in the segregated schools fro 10 years than the regular high school when we integrated) and he said that he has not seen young people so fired up since Kennedy. He also is a Dean supporter.

One of the things which strikes me the most about Dean in the C-Span coverage is how much time he spends down on the floor mixing with the people after he speaks. He doesn't leave until the room is almost empty.
