Dean Still in the Lead in new NH Poll...
Latest Suffolk Univ. NH poll
by kos
Thu Jan 15th, 2004 at 06:14:04 GMT

The polls have suddenly gotten very consistent in NH. Dean is in the low 30s, Clark is second in the high-teens to low 20s. And Kerry is in third. Suffolk is the latest to weigh in (PDF). MoE 4.9. 1/12-13. (December results in parenthesis)
Dean 32 (35)
Clark 17 (10)
Undecided 16 (23)
Kerry 12 (12)
Lieberman 11 (6)
Gephardt 3 (5)
Edwards 3 (5)
Kucinich 1 (3)
Sharpton 1 (2)
Braun 0 (1)

I'd still rather be Dean than anyone else in this race, but the stress quotiant has to be sky-high.
Good. We'll need our nominee -- be it Dean or Clark (or one of the dark horses) -- to be battle-tested on his way to the Rove/Bush matchup. Over the next month we'll see which candidate and team has the mettle to take on Bush most effectively.

The winner of this primary will easily be the party's best option against Bush.

1. I don't care for polls too much.
Only thing I'm sure about now is that I'm firmly with the Dean Camp.

Because this time, the field of battle will be of our choosing!

"Draw sabres and fix bayonets!"

3. you're just propagating the stupid meme that Dean is a dove
when he's not. I am not anti-war, I am ANTI-preemptive war.

7. Add me to the casualty list in regards to all the Anti-Dean threads.
Since I've registered, I have been more than accomodating to the Clark camp.

Do the Clark people think they have a monopoly in regards to the military support?

"****", "Recruiter", "Convoy"....?
Cannot be from a peace loving General!

10. who said Dean supporters are peace loving?
Do you know about the concept of "just war"? Some wars are just, such as WWII. The war in Iraq is not.

5. Could you provide a working link to the polling site instead of a blog?
I would like to know more about how the poll was conducted, and the blogger you cited has none of that info on his website, and his link to the pollers is broken.

6. This is consistent with recent trends in NH: Dean down, Clark up
If you'll notice, Clark is up 7 pts. and Dean is down 3 pts. Of course, the numbers could reverse on any given day. I am not celebrating just yet, but the trends sure do look good for Clark.

GO WES GO!!!!

Says pollster.

http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/7711414.htm

-snip-

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark is quickly gaining ground on the former Vermont governor, according to a respected daily tracking poll. Clark is only 10 points behind, at 22 percent, with Dean at 32 percent, on average over Jan.11-13. Sen. John Kerry of neighboring Massachusetts is a distant third at 13 percent, and 16 percent are undecided.

Polls in primaries are often volatile, and voter turnout can be highly unpredictable, especially when the weather is severe. For all that however, the latest three-day survey average masks how fast Clark is closing the gap, according to those polled.

"The daily trends show Wesley Clark closing in on Howard Dean. There was a 13 percentage point gap between Clark and Dean on Jan. 11, an 8 percentage point gap on Jan. 12 and a 4 percentage point gap on Jan. 13," pollster American Research Group said on its Web site.

"If the trend to Clark continues, Clark could be leading the race by the end of the weekend," said ARG President Dick Bennett in an e-mail. "Even if Dean holds his core support, Clark could tie and move in front of Dean in New Hampshire before the results from Iowa are known."
