Boxer, in third Senate race, hopes to frustrate GOP once again

WASHINGTON - Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer has heard Republicans' complaints before.

She's "too liberal," an "extremist." "Out of sync," in the words of California Republican Party Chairman Duf Sundheim.

She heard them in 1992, when she first won her Senate seat, and in 1998, when she doubled her victory margin and gained a second term.

She's hearing them now, and she fully expects to confound her opponents once again when she asks voters for a third term in November.

"They predicted that they would be able to beat me easily. They kept saying in each of those races that I was an easy one," Boxer said.

but I fully expect her to retain her seat. The Republicans are fresh out of has-been action heros for which the body sheep can vote. I can't begin to tell you how seething the California Democrats are here. Give us a record turnout, which I fully expect, and she'll retain her seat -- as she should.
