Coors to yank ads with leader

Prospective bid for Senate cited

To comply with federal campaign and elections laws, Coors Brewing Co. will yank three television ads from the Colorado market because they feature prospective U.S. Senate candidate Peter Coors.

"We will be pulling those spots," spokeswoman Laura Sankey said Friday.

The campaign, which aired nationally during the NCAA men's basketball tournament, features Coors customers quizzing company chairman Peter Coors, who responds from the side of a snow-covered mountain.

In one spot, a customer asks Coors if the company really has people who taste beer for a living. Coors replies that the company has highly trained brewmasters and that the company employs many people with doctoral degrees.
